Well, the Beastie Boys obviously really liked it since they chose to use that remix for the clip rather than the original version.

I would have to say absolutely............ NOT BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL!!

Yes. the original is very boooooooooooring compared to fatboy slims version. i haven't even listened to the original since i got the fatboy slim remix cuz it can't even compare

Comparing tito puente to fatboy slim is like comparing jesus to david koresh.
what is wrong with you people?

I think it is the highest quality outsider remix of any beastie boys remix
Any others that are that well done??

I'm always right--fatboys version is better for the video's style, but it is not even close to as good of a song as the original

I think they're both really good and I listen to both of them all the time....thats a hard decision, but I'd have to say I do prefer listening to Fatboy Slim's Remix.

The steel drums in the original version give me tingles.

Fatboy slim remixes do not unfortunately.
What's up with remixes getting mad props all the time? I like fatboy once in a while, but it's basically the same canned big beat he's been throwing at us for 10 years.

Definitely prefer the original to the Fatboy Slim remix. I listened to Body Movin' a lot on the album and never really liked the single version.
The Free Zone remix of Root Down, however is a whole other matter :D .
still ill

well, the remix is great but the original version kicks ass
the remix cant be better than the original because the beasties never made a bad song....... so what youre saying its bullshit...... the beasties' remixes are always very good ones..... but none of 'em are better than their original... talking about Root Down...... no remix can beat the original Root Down cause it has the most hip hop beastie video (graffiti, breakdance, dj and mc)... the four elements present..........

can't we all just get along? nah, jus playin.
i like both versions cause they are different songs pretty much. of course i think the beastie mix is awesome, but i really like the fat boy mix too. i refuse to compare a remix to a beastie original.

Which do you mean??
1. Fatboy Slim-Body movin'
2. Beastie boys - Body movin' (fatboy slim remix)
I think number 2 is the coolest :D

Yeah I prefer the remix, the track's a bit long but it's just awesome to listen to, like they said it takes the song to another level, and as a dance track it works really well

Nah, Palookaville last year was considerably different, and I thought it was great
Especially Lateef's guest appearances :D
The steel drums in the original version give me tingles.
yep, the sound of steel drums in general give me tingles. original versoin all the way, tis the best, i say so.
if it's a remix were talking about, i'd have to pick the Shawn J. Period Remix over the fatboy one.

how ironic, i was just watching the dvd this morning thinking 'gawd, this fatboy slim remix sucks compared to the origional'

you're wrong, that remix is soft, and actually a bit annoying
I like some of his other stuff, but don't do the beasties like that....

to be perfectly honest, this remix is the worst beastie remix i can think of!!! i really think it is rubbish compared to the original..... actually thats harsh... VERY harsh... its good, but pales in comparison to the original!!! (y) (y) (y)

The remix is definitely better. Come on, Fatboy has spent his life DJing. The Beastie Boys can still mix a sick track but Fatboy Slim can just switch it up to another level. Anyone who says Adrock's DJing skills are equal to Fatboy's is just delusional. (y)

Dood, no offense, but it doesn't sound like you know what you're talking about.
Track production and "DJing" are not the same thing. And Adrock was making tracks when Fatboy Slim was still dancing around in diapers with a glowstick. Adrocks beats hit so much HARDER than Fatboy Slim's that its not even funny.

I don't think it's better, it just has Fatboys signature on it. They both have pretty distinct styles, no one can outdo the other.

NO! It's not better.
The original is the best, then the Erik Sermon version although its not really a remix. To me the Fatboy slim version is down at the bottom with all the other Body Movin remixes, Kut Masta Kurt Remix, Movin' In Kent Mix.
If you haven't heard it.

Wow, well, its time for a remixer to talk a little about a remix. I have nothing but respect for Fatboy Slim, but to me the remixes are equal, but I'd lean more toward Fatboy's. The 'original' has some nice little touches here and there, and is very hip-hop no doubt. But to me the lyrics don't match up to the beat, style-wise. For a song called "Body Movin'" I'd expect it to make you want to bounce out of your seat and bust a move. The original can't do that as well as Fatboy's. BUT, I think Fatboy fucked himself over when he made the intro a minute long. For a second I'm like 'shit, this is some catchy production' but then 30 seconds later '.....when does the beat truely change?'. So yea, take it how you want. I like Kutmaster's and Def Squads, but I don't listen to Body Movin' In general. But I do have a remix of it coming out soon.... with a modern-day warrior in it (if anyone can figure that last thing out, your good:))

Absolutely agreed, and I think the beasties feel the same way, otherwise they wouldn't have given it as big a nod as they did by putting it on the video and on Sounds of Science. Agreed about the 1 minute intro too, that does kind of deter from the track, but that's typical Fatboy/dance style, a shorter edit would have been nice.

Each to their own I guess...still can't understand why some people on here get so pissed when you don't agree with them! For me, original beats and version are slightly better, only by the fact you needed that in the first place to amke a remix...Fatboy Slim is a Beastie lover, gotta respect that!!

I think this track is excellent. We used it in a shakespearean drama play I did at school at the beginning of the year (my suggestion of course). It was heaps of fun, I got my friend hooked on the song. But I do like the original version with the "You will do this four times with the left..." bit. (y)
