¿Sad songs?
¡¡¡There's a lot of kind of sad songs!!!
Example (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=ADFEAEE57B1CDD4CA47520C99D3B7B90E226D201D157 F78F172C0456D3B82D78BF3F27C659F48B81B2E577B066ADFF 2EA11609D9C8EC5CFFDA765D40&sql=11:5e841v0ozz9a)

"Always on my Mind"... Elvis, Willie Nelson, Pet Shop Boys, whatever. The Song Remains the Same, regardless of how campy it is.

I Will Remember You-Sarah McLaughlin (can't believe no one has said this one...it's a little cliche though)
Thank You-Led Zepplin (more sentimental than sad)

For some reason, I think Sister Christian is a sad song.

Green Day - Time of Your Life (Good Riddance)

Mixed with a little

Sarah McLachlin - I will Remember You

...seems to be the common choice.

The only one I could think of is that graduation song by vitamin c. It's a little girly though I guess. :p

Bittersweet Symphony Verve
Since your gone the Cars
Beast of Burden the Rolling Stones

Elliot Smith (as mentioned above by Parkey) is fucking brilliantly sad.
So is much of Alice in Chains, Dinosaur Jr. and Eels.

What is wrong with the youth of today? This is your end of high school video? What's with the funeral music?

Our end of high school video featured selections from Pink Floyd's The Wall (our class album), Alice Cooper's School's Out (we weren't very imaginative), and Loverboy's The Kid Is Hot Tonight (I have no idea why).

I have this mortal coil......somewhere, I cannot remember. damn. I was going to suggest Love Will Tear Us Apart, but it said saddest songs, "not bury yourself alive" songs.

I mean that in a good way.

Well, it has nothing to do with high school, but the songs that always make me get goosebumps and sometimes makes me tear up are:

1) I'm Living in Shame by the Supremes, which is about a woman (Diana Ross) who grows up poor but goes to a good school and tells everyone her mom is dead so they won't know that her mom is a cleaning lady and then she marries a rich guy and never has her kids meet her mom and the her mom dies and it's all too late and so she's living in shame. (holy shit, I'm getting goosebumps typing this)

2) Battle Hymn of the Republic -- and I'd like to know when schools started changing the lyrics to make it less sad.

Love Will Tear Us Apart isn't really as sad if you're not thinking about the singer killing himself.
