Then why the HELL would he not allow Terri Schiavo to do the same thing last week?!
Seriously, millions of "catholics" should be storming the vatican right about now, forcing the pope to go on some sort of life support, as apparently science is wonderful and good if it can be used to keep a political chess piece alive, but is horrible and wrong if it can be used to PREVENT the problem from happening in the first place.

So as soon as he cannot we should keep him on life support for ever. Excellent.
AFAIK, she can't do anything for herself. And thus in my opinion already dea, or so nature dictates.

yeah well here's how the church would view it: the pope has a "personal" relationship with God, that us lay people do not. that's why we need a priest during confession, because lay people can not communicate diretcly with god. Only clergy can communicate directly with God. So anyway what that basically means is the pope doesn't have to play by everybody elses rules. Whatever he says goes cause he talks to God and of course God knows what's best for the Pope.
