From my dad's record collection I remember I liked Danny Kaye's song about a dripping tap (can't remember it's name), Harry Belafonte's bananaloaders song (Day-o), and then it was whatever popsongs was on the radio, mainly translated for Finnish pop-artists (Never marry a railroad man was a big fave), Christie's Yellow River, and on my first ever tape (120 mins, purple :D ) I had taped the Osmonds One bad apple, José Feliciano's Sun and rain, Simon and Garfunkel's Boxer and that song from Easy Rider, Born to be wild, three times! I'm not quite if I'd already turned 10 by then. I remember later in my next school my classmate thought I needed to hear some better music and took me to the library to listen to Bowie's Ziggy Stardust and then Aladdin Sane. I haven't been the same since.

As a girl, in the days of vinyl, I wore out THREE copies of the Sound of Music soundtrack. My favorite song though was from The Music Man broadway soundtrack. I think it's called Pick a Little Talk a Little.

My favorite 45s from my brothers' collection were Can't Buy Me Love, Hunter Gets Captured by the Game, and He's a Rebel.

My first songs I remember loving on the radio were Crocodile Rock and (oddly) The Cover of the Rolling Stone.

We (me and my sisters) had Mary Poppins LP and I think that's where I learnt my first English. Just a spoonful of sugar and Chim-chimenee. And I can still say Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (didn't even have to look for spelling!).

(Oh yeah the José Feliciano track was called just Rain, remembered wrong earlier)

I was 10 in 1987 so the popular music I remember liking then was mostly Madonna. I was partial to a lot of my mom's music. I liked Carly Simon (Stuff that Dreams are Made of, That's the way I always heard it should be).

I also remember really liking Steve Perry's solo stuff (Oh Sherry, Foolish Heart).

I used to sit on the balcony of our apartment when I was a kid and search my My Little Pony FM radio for those songs. Lucky for me they were giant hits and were always on some station.
