...so I guess they issued a version of A Ghost is Born in Europe with a 5-track bonus CD. That's nice, but what about us?
Well, you just plug your copy of the CD into your computer, and it lets you download the tracks for free. No need to pay for an import copy or fork over another $5-$7 for the EP as a separate release. Very nice.
And the live tracks are terrific. Much better than the live stuff I heard in I Am Trying to Break Your Heart. (y)

Are the 5 bonus tracks any good?
I was pretty let down by "A Ghost is Born." :(

Yeah -- it's a good EP.
Think of Ghost as something like their White Light/White Heat, sort of. It had to grow on me.
See... my favorite album of theirs is still Summerteeth.

I think Summerteeth's a good album, but I like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot the best.
Being There and A Ghost Is Born are good too, but the first Mermaid Avenue album they did with Billy Bragg probably gets more play than those.

...I still have to hear either of those albums they did with Billy Bragg.
I'm coming late to the party.

They put on a live show that knocked me socks off up here in the NW last fall. I have that movie, "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" coming in the mail, they are a gem.

The movie's pretty good.
It's kind of sad to see
1) Tweedy throwing up because of migraines
2) How kind of coldly the band got rid of the former pianist, and how freely they talk about being so glad he's gone. ...I guess I just think some stuff should stay private.

Yeah I haven't seen this movie yet, heard it was good and a bit brutal, I also orderd up the Ramones and Isle of Wight Festival....but the Wilco flick is the only one I really care about.

"I Am Trying To Break Your Heart" was a really good movie.
One thing you have to wonder though...
Would it have been as compelling a documentary if they didn't get dropped by their label (Reprise) and Tweedy hadn't have left?
Because the original premise of the doc was just to capture the making of "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot." Would it have just been fairly boring if everything went fine with the record execs and there hadn't have been fighting with Tweedy?
If it wasn't for those areas of drama... I don't know if it would've been so engaging.

...you never know. I'd love to do a documentary entirely about the conception, exceution, and fate of just one song. See what happens.
