Some conservatives are angered by opinionated quotes that Starbucks puts on its cups.
Story (http://sptimes.com/2005/03/25/Business/Coffee_with_steam.shtml)
Seth Hoffman, president of the Tampa Bay Young Republicans and an occasional Starbucks drinker, said he tries to avoid buying some "liberal" products, like Ben & Jerry's ice cream. He said Starbucks should consider using more conservative voices, but if they don't, he's unlikely to stay away.
My guess is the surface of the Starbucks cups is somewhat waxy because of the waterproofing. Most of the smarmy, self-serving bullshit spouted by conservatives simply won't stick to the cup.

Blah Blah Blah... not directed at you yeahwho, just the article itself. It's no different than all the other endless partisan bickering bullshit that they wish to make into a genuine concern.

The first thing I thought when I read this is what you thought. Always upset about freedom of speech or peoples rights being excercised. Non-issues like cheerleading, individual expression is alwaya a big one. Fucking wild what they dream up and make issues. It is almost without a doubt going to be a freedom of expression issue.
I think it would be good to get a Jeff Gannon line of quotes on Starbucks cups.
Or maybe this jewel,
I never drink coffee at lunch. I find it keeps me awake for the afternoon."

Just a reflection of our society today. I find it rather humourous, I like to know how people think and what makes them tick. I guess what I am saying is this, a story about a major corporation which use's a higher percentage of liberal sayings on it's cups rather than conservative is entertaining to me. I never once found it offensive and don't believe it is the intent of the writer to promote a neocon agenda, the intent I'm pretty sure is to let people know how fucked up some conservatives can get.
Isn't the whole point of Starbucks marketing to make conservatives feel liberal and cool? If you disagree with the co-opting of liberalism in the name of corporatism, then what are these complainers doing drinking at Starbucks in the first place?
Do any actual liberals really drink at Starbucks? Isn't it a faux-liberal place
My Theory;
All one needs do to feel liberal and cool is walk around naked in February.

I'm anticipating Starbucks will retaliate the neocons with a line of cups with Malcolm X quotes....
"You show me a capitalist and I'll show you a bloodsucker."
"I'm the man you think you are.... If you want to know what I'll do, figure out what you'll do. I'll do the same thing--only more of it."
"We declare our right on this earth . . . to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, in t his day, which we intend to bring into existence by any means necessary."
Chin up. Because it's on, motherfuckers. It is on.

I am one big huge liberal, and I just got back from Starbucks. It's open 'til Midnight! Nothing beats that when you have to work late.
I've never seen any writing on them either.
Do you get Caribou coffee? I hate their little napkins that say stupid things about coffee.

yeah documad, maybe in mn. there isn't any labels...but i prefer caribou, maybe because they are local (unlike starbucks) but i've never noticed the napkins...hmmm? maybe because i always get them "to go"!

^^ Caribou used to be local. Now it's owned by some Arab consortium. I can't believe you haven't seen the little square napkins. I wish I could think of something they've said. They change them about once a month and I get really sick of them. Crap like "life's important - stay awake for it."

So after going to Starbucks pretty much every day of the year, I noticed today that my venti cup had a lengthy quote from Ken Burns and my friend's tall cup had one from Erykah Badu! Both quotes were of the get off your ass and do something variety.
So I'm obviously not observant. And maybe this explains my liberal tendencies. Who knows how long I've been brainwashed by paper cups???

Word...all the good coffeeshops in our state have shitty hours. And they wonder why Starbucks shuts them down......
I don't drink Starbucks...it tastes bad.
Fuck Starbucks. My (ex) girlfriend has started to hang out at Starbucks and is hanging out with some of the people who work there. Fuck....why does EVERYTHING have to remind me how much my life sucks? :(

I haven't had Starbucks in years, My mom used to buy Starbucks back at the original store (http://home.flash.net/~ral1/starbucks/bigimages/DSCN5588.jpg) back in 1971. It was legend at one time, now it is bland and burnt IMO.
I actually roast my own beans now, a total Coffee Freak. Here's my roaster (http://www.sweetmarias.com/freshroast.images/freshroastPlus8.lrg.jpg) and this is where I order the Bean (http://www.sweetmarias.com/prod.greencoffee.mvc.shtml).
I hoping to all hell your (ex) girlfriends name isn't Maria!

There was one really cool coffee shop downtown that was amazing. They had fantastic coffee and really cool, interesting people would hang out there. It stays open until about 2am on the weekends (at least it did the last time I went). And now it's overrun with mall punks. Boooooo.
Fuck Starbucks.

Coffee is fun. You're pretty hardcore about it....maybe I should take my love of coffee into some obsession. I need to expand and change up things in my life.
I did notice sweetmarias.com had a pretty good price on Jamaican Blue Mountain (my favorite).....which is something my (ex) girlfriend turned me on to. Even though she has a pretty good (full time) day job...she still enjoys working part-time in coffee shops...just because she loves working in a coffee shop. She always brought home the good shit.....
Fuck Starbucks.
