Alternative Press calls BLINKING LIGHTS "devastatingly beautiful" and says it "could be the best record of the year" in it's 5 star review on newsstands now.
"Superb."
4 stars - Mojo
"Defiantly uplifting."
4 stars - Q
"This confirms him among America's greats."
4 stars - Uncut
"Like glimpsing sunlight through storm clouds... Repeated listening reveals the total absence of filler tracks. This is without doubt E's masterpiece."
5 stars - Rip N Burn
"An emotional roller coaster of a record."
4 stars - Ice
I concur with all of the reviews. Blinking Lights is an album that grows on you, and it's brilliant in it's simplicity. Pick it up when it comes out on April 26, you won't regret the purchase.

...I really dug E's two albums, and for some reason have never ever heard an Eels song. That's weird.

"Souljacker" Is nice and the man's personal life is devastating....a great example of how music and art can save what little may be left of a damaged soul....

I had no idea, other than the aural scars you can clearly hear.
What's the scoop?

Consecutive suicides within his immediate family. Whom all suffered from manic deppresion which he admits openly to battling....very sad.

Right now I am at an all time low in my life. Music is the only thing that makes me feel better. It has to be new music though (not new like just released...i mean new to me). I only become more depressed and sad if I listen to anything I usually enjoy...it triggers too many memories.
I think I'll go record shopping tomorrow (even though I should save my money for new furniture and booze to drown my sorrows).

Indeed and from my both my profesional and personal opinion; I find it to be as deadly as cancer, serious as a heart attack and as common as the cold.....

Thats rough it's a big boat bro and there are alot of us in it together...I'm maning the oars opposite you,so I hear it....if it wasn't for the public library supplying my insatiable need for sounds to fill the silence I'd be broker than Johnny Ryall.....period music is hard sometimes takes you right back to a place,a time,a scent,a taste...rough! I'm gonna try seeing life through sober eyes this week, just a little tweekin on the weekends....and in the mean time go shoot some hoops and make a curied chicken for sunday dinner...keep busy, keep happy(ier)....via con dios mi hermano/hermana

Blinking Lights is out today. I highly encourage everyone to go pick it up. I can't see a better album being released this year.
Over on Metacritic, it's got a score of 94 so far. The highest in 2005 at the moment.

I'll have to buy it, it's got a lot of songs and I am rarely disappointed with eels stuff, plus I'll hear their stuff when I go to the concert in Brussels soon!!!! The Eels and other music were good friends for me when I was lonely in life and I am greatfull for it, music has such a power and language and for me, the Eels reach it on many levels.
