Because I'm trying not to eat red meat and I've been keeping away from it because I'm not sure.

Well at first I was going to try not eating any meat for a while but that was too hard so I thought I'd take baby steps and get rid of red meat first.

unless you're eating a lot of fish there's more goodness in red meat than in chicken and hormone filled pork.

Que? What's eating fish got to do with whether red meat has more "goodness" (?) than white meat?

because fish is really good for you?

LOL I am not disputing that, but that's not what you originally said. Your statement was "unless you're eating a lot of fish there's more goodness in red meat than in chicken and hormone filled pork." Which implies that somehow eating fish affects the goodness (which I'm still not clear on what you mean by that word) of red meat over white meat or vice versa. What does it matter to the the meat's nutritional content how much fish you eat?

i think you just misinterpreted what I said. or maybe I just wrote it wrong. I dont know I'm sick at the moment I can't think straight. I was trying to say that fish is really nutritious...but chicken and pork really aren't that great compared to fish or red meat. I've known people that only eat 'white' meat but mostly that means they eat a lot of chicken. Chicken really isn't that good for you IMO. meh.

^^^ha! me too. sometimes i feel all guilty about eating cow's meat or milk and chickens and their eggs, which is kinda gross now that i think about it...see? i'm grossing myslef out but i still eat the stuff cuz it's so dang good. i can't help it, i was raised this way.

like last night, i was watching stand by me, and ya know how river phoenix was totally crazy about animals and a really strict vegan, well, it made me think that maybe i'd try it, but then i went out and this dim sum place was around the corner and i got the pork stuff. mmm....

but, yeah, i thought that pork was considered a white meat. but, i think it's more red than white. (lb) it's pink! cha! (y) :p

If you are trying to quit eating meat, the best way is to go meal by meal and make selections that don't include meat. Do this every day and see how long you can go. It is overwhelming to decide not to eat meat for life. That's a huge commitment and there is a lower sucess rate for those who go tofurkey. Unless you've had some sort of traumatic experience, like a visit to a meat packing facility.

Don't beat yourself up if you break down and have a hamburger or a strip of bacon. Bacon smells good and tastes even better. Eventually, you may lose your taste for meat altogether. Or not, you may crave it more. That's the best way to find out if you are a carnivore or herbivore.

Don't make it about deprivation, make it about choices. Also, learn to cook if you don't already know how. That's the most important thing you can do to ensure success. May the force be with you.

I am not currently vegetarian, but I was a poser vegetarian for eight years. I still go for days at a time without eating meat and then I'll succumb to a craving for bacon...or shrimp...or BBQ chicken...I could never really appreciate tofu. But Indian food rocks.

PM me if you want some easy recipes.

Some thoughts on Pork by the good Mr. Jules Winnefield:

I don't dig on swine
Pigs are filthy animals, I don't eat filthy animals

Sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie but I'd never know because I wouldn't eat the filthy mutherfuckers

Pigs sleep and root in shit, that's a filthy animal.
I ain't eatin nothin that ain't got sense enough to disregard it's own feces.

i don't really eat too much pork either, I can't save my self from bacon though..every now and then
BUT that thing about pigs and feaces..not entirely true, pigs are one of the only animals to shit consistently in the one place/area... they might end u rooting and sleeping in it but that's probably because their enclosure is too small. I'm not saying their not filthy, but that comment about shit by that dude is wrong, someone should tell him.
ps. i thought only aussies said root.
