I found these records just lying around the store. Of course its vinyl so you have to roll up your sleeves and dig in order to find the good ones

Led Zeppelin II - 99 cents
Santana - Abraxas 99 cents
Sly & the Family Stone - Fresh 99 cents
Barry White - Can't Get Enough $1.99

That's right, muthafucka. I used to work in a record store. Till I got fired for stealing an Ice Cube cd that was sitting there for a year and a half.

Did you get those at Jerry's?

Nope, although that's a really good store too.

I found these at Dave's Music Mine in South Side. The stuff they have in the racks is pretty pathetic though. It's the LPs that are all piled up in the corner that you gotta look through.

I've been to Pittsburgh. It's like the USA version of Sheffield.

Also check out resale shops for old vinyl--the ones around here have shitloads of it, lots of it very good quality (the music and the physical condition) & usually no more than $2.00 at the very most.

BTW: In case anyone is wondering you can record vinyl to CD-R, and still preserve most of the vinyl's "warm" sound.

I've never been to Dave's, but a friend of mine goes in there every few days just to check stuff out. He works over there so it's easy for him to do that. Good finds.

I've never been to Sheffield but I remember seeing an interview with the Beatles once and they said the Pittsburgh reminded them of Liverpool. I don't think they intended it as a compliment. That was back when the "still mills" were still operating so the city had a different look and smell to it. :)

I liked Pittsburgh, even though it seemed a bit quiet. If you ever visit Sheffield you'll be struck by a sense of deja vu!

In fact they are now sister cities apparently;

Is it okay to still diss Pittsburgh in general?
It's not just okay but expected.

That's cheaper than a freakin' garage sale or flea market. Damn.
