Where do you find it? its hard to find. I found some of it on the internet once, but in general I think the internet you will not find the truth. The internet is full of bullshit, the truth will be found in hollywood because it is devoted to the truth.

The bible is a book of some truth but not absolute truth. What does everyone else think? I am anxious to hear everyone else's response.

I don't rely on any one source to tell me "the truth". Truth is more often than not subjective, if not in fact than in its facility, because the words chosen to communicate a 'truth' can never really be free of influence. So, I take versions of the truth from any number of sources, and rely on my own critical thinking skills to help me form a picture of what I believe to be the most likely course of events.

That, and Heat magazine.

truth is an abstract notion that has now form and can not be defined properly.

you can only find truth about who you really are, nothing more. don't look for Truth, it's vain and useless.

The Jehova Witness's have that trademark, don't they?

I have found the basic primal truths of life, the 5 senses have aided in basic realities, yet much of what the newspapers and internet call truth are actually perceptions. The percecetion business is booming. Which leads me into Hollywood and two of my favorite movies which of course deal with perception, yet I'm easily amused

First, Ned Beatty as Arthur Jenson in Network; laying down the business platform of truth,

The world is a business, it has been since man crawled out of the slime. Our children will live to see that perfect world in which there's no war or famine, oppression or brutality - one vast and ecumenical holding company, for whom all men will work to serve a common profit, in which all men will hold a share of stock - all necessities provided, all anxieties tranquilized, all boredom amused.

Then Al Pacino as John Milton in Devils Advocate;

Let me give you a little inside information about God. God likes to watch. He's a prankster. Think about it. He gives man instincts. He gives you this extraordinary gift, and then what does He do, I swear for His own amusement, his own private, cosmic gag reel, He sets the rules in opposition. It's the goof of all time. Look but don't touch. Touch, but don't taste. Taste, don't swallow. Ahaha. And while you're jumpin' from one foot to the next, what is he doing? He's laughin' His sick, fuckin' ass off. He's a tight-ass. He's a sadist. He's an absentee landlord. Worship that? Never.

Then he adds this little tidbit....

You sharpen the human appetite to the point where it can split atoms with its desire; you build egos the size of cathedrals; fiber-optically connect the world to every eager impulse; grease even the dullest dreams with these dollar-green, gold-plated fantasies, until every human becomes an aspiring emperor, becomes his own God... and where can you go from there?

Who, in their right mind, could possibly deny the twentieth century was entirely mine.

I'll pass along a couple of gems from my old man for your perusal, one time when I was 16 or 17 he told me, "Son, 24 hours a day there is somebody somewhere figuring out how to get your money."

Then when I was getting close to God and riding my spiritual high horse, I decided to share my newfound belief system with him when all of a sudden he says to me, "Son, of all the people I've met, your another one."

ramble ramble rant rant blah blah

i find it odd that we view everything with such diametrically opposed relationships. something is either good or evil, right or wrong, true or false. these are the mores and ideas put upon us, and we must take them back for ourselves. we must decide ourselves, not through a television, what is true and what is not. we must not look to someone else, as an example, to see if he does something that is either wrong or right.

it is wrong to shoplift, yet right to live in the corporate american system? we have these notions that we live with, without truly thinking about them. it is good to do this, and bad to do that. we must live our life in one way, we are told - the right way, the good way, with good morals and values. who the fuck wants to do that? it's boring! there is no one right way to live, and we must all find that out. we must discover that we are free to do anything, free to judge anything, and decide for ourselves.

John 14:6

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

It is truly sad to see that someone thinks this way. It would be ignorant to think that you are the only one.

This is what the world teaches.

It is totally about self.

To keep it simple: The truth really is in the bible, ALL not just some. Ask me anything- if I don't know the answer right away i will take the time to find it. Remember, the bible is designed to last your whole entire life, very few books can do that. Patience, grasshopper...

While I share your fondness with biblical wisdom, let's start with one fact. The Bible is not one book, but a collection of 66 different books written by diverse authors from a wide variety of cultural and historical backgrounds. This is why different biblical books contradict each other perceptually and factually. This is also why discerning biblical scholars don't abandon critical thinking in their quest for enlightened faith.

Your Iconoclast,

Christopher Largen
