Tel Aviv, 11 April (AKI) - Israeli Premier Ariel Sharon is expected to tell US president George W. Bush at their meeting later on Monday at Bush's Texas ranch, that Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas' rule is collapsing and that he has failed to keep promises made, an Israeli newspaper reported. Tel Aviv-daily Haaretz's report comes amid growing tensions over the weekend. Israeli troops killed three Palestinian teenagers in Gaza on Saturday. In retaliation, Palestinian militants responded with a barrage of some 100 mortar shells and rockets fired at nearby Jewish settlements.
In Jerusalem, thousands of police held a tense stand-off with ultra-nationalist Jews who attempted to stage a demonstration near the al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount. Palestinian demonstrators flooded the site to "protect" it from the Jewish protesters.
Sharon may also tell Bush that if Abbas fails to take action to curb militant violence, Israel will be forced to do so itself, Israeli army radio reported Monday.
Sharon will also tell the American president that armed organizations are violating their own cease-fire promises. It looks like Sharon's not doing to well in keeping his own Nutters under control.
Heh, I didn't know GWB's bush was near Waco. Somewhat appropriate.
The Israeli army says the evidence collected so far in its investigation of the shooting indicates that the soldiers behaved properly - and that the three 14-year-olds that were killed in Gaza, were involved in weapons smuggling efforts in the area.Of course they were. All Palestinians are arms smugglers.
