Ian Curtis killed himself 25 years ago today and the Guardian has a good interview with his wife today talking about them, Joy Division etc.

I actually remember when that happened.
Death by hotel room, wannit? Just like Richard Manuel. :(

Yeah, he hung himself, right? :(

Yup.
Ian, Richard, Michael Hutchence (accident?), and I think Stu Adamson.
And then the drummer from Crowded House just hung himself in a park. That's pretty messed up. It's bad enough that the hotel maid is going to stumble onto your body, let alone whoever happens to be taking their kids or dogs to the park.

Who's the guy out of Big Country? He hanged himself in the hotel cupboard...

I wasn't sure if that was him or not. Sid Vicious killed himself in a hotel, but not hanged.

...that's another kind of iffy one, isn't it? Could he have overdosed?

I believe so. It's all very messy.

Ian killed himself at his home... and Sid overdosed on heroin. Since he got in trouble concerning Nancy, his mother didn't want him going around buying drugs, so she did it for him. She was pretty good at it, and got some of the purest heroin there was, which he proceeded to overdose on.

A bit off topic but not worth starting a new thread. I'm gonna buy Waiting for the Sirens Call later for a tenner. I'll let you know what I think on Monday.
Mojo had a great cover story on Ian Curtis. A huge article on Joy Division, a short (but great) article on Peter Saville's artwork on Joy Division and New Order's covers, and a nice interview with New Order. Worth picking up.
