Personally, all of my favorite artists "bite" work from others. Beasties, Jay Z, Sublime.
It's part of the appeal for me. I think they all do it in a classy way that is a tribute to their influences.

The Beatles, The Stones, Zeppelin etc. A lot of notable artists have "borrowed" or paid tribute to past/present influences. It's not like Jay's "biting" from some obscure rappers nobody's ever heard of.

Hip hop is based off of the sampling of other people's music, so how can you criticize people for 'biting' other people's rhymes but praise producers when they make awesome beats using samples?
All rappers do this, as a form of tribute as was said earlier.
