Do you have a signature dish, whether it be an appetizer, entree, dessert, etc. that is always a success at parties or with guests at the house?

I have an appetizer olive/cheese bread that everyone begs for me to make:

sourdough bread sliced
1 C cheddar cheese grated
1 C parmesagn cheese grated
2 T minced onions (dried)
1 can chopped black olives
1 C mayonnaise

mix together

spread on bread

broil on high until melted and golden brown (about 3-5 minutes)

What's your recipe?

my turkey lasagne (ive posted this before though)

uses:
ground turkey meat in the sauce which is also made with tomatoes (of course) zucchini, carrots, assorted peppers, onions, garlic, and my special spice mix
whole wheat noodles
cottage cheese layers
spinach layers
and mozza onna de top

its so muthafukkin good and ever the more filling because the sauce has so many veggies in it

its also good with ground chicken but the turkey is just flat out great

Orange Juice Cake:

I swear this stuff is like crack. People beg me to make it. I stole the recipe, but I don't remember from where.

Cake:
1 box cake mix (white or yellow, the mix, not the box)
1 box instant vanilla pudding
3 eggs
1/2 cup oil
1 cup orange juice

Funky syrup stuff:
1 stick butter-like substance
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup orange juice

Mix cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, oil and 1 cup o.j.
Bake 30 mins, give or take, at 350 degrees.
I normally make it in a Bundt pan.

After the cake is done:
Melt butter in small sauce pan. Add sugar and 1/2 cup o.j., heat for a minute or so. Spoon over warm cake. Let the whole thing stand atleast 30 minutes, then remove from pan.

This cake rocks, and it tastes awesome when its cold.

In summer it's gazpacho with toasted baguette and a cold beer!

6 ripe tomatoes, peeled and chopped up
1 purple onion, finely chopped
1 cucumber, peeled, seeded, chopped up
1 sweet red bell pepper (or green) seeded and chopped up
2 stalks celery, chopped up
1 or 2 Tbsp minced fresh parsley
2 Tbsp chopped fresh chives
1 clove garlic (at least) minced
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup virgin olive oil
2 Table spoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 teaspoons sugar (cut's tomato acidity)
Kosher sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
A few drops of good hot sauce to taste
1 tea spoon worcestershire sauce
4 cups tomato juice

Combine everything, blend gently, don't overdue! Put it in a ceramic pot/pitcher if possible, cover and let refrigerate overnight, which allows flavors to meld.....serve at high noon!

Spanish bombs from Andalucia! ;)

That sounds nice, but, damn if a cup of real parmesan isn't like at least 10 bucks here! Think the garlic salt can be replaced with fresh? :)

Just curious, why the turkey? Just a taste preference thing or a dietary thing? I can imagine meat/sausageless lasagna but have never thought to put bird in it....hmmmmmmm ;)

My mother! You stole it from my mother! She also used to put coins wrapped in wax paper in it! And a lot of lemon zest on top....we called it money cake and it is great cold! :)

i usually double this recipe for a 9 x 13 baking dish (because usually when i make it, its for some huge family function or dinner thingamajig).

2 boxes chopped broccoli
1 cup mushroom soup
1 cup mayonaise
2 eggs
1 cup sharp grated cheddar cheese
1 medium chopped onion
1/2 stick margarine
1/2 bag of pepperidge farm stuffing or just plain old croutons work fine too

cook broccoli and drain
add soup, mayo, onion, eggs, and some salt and pepper
pour into casserole dish
sprinkle with the cheese
brown croutons in margarine and pour on the top

bake 35-45 minutes at 350 degrees

talk about yumtastic. this dish is where its at.

it is fattening and affordable...I get the grated parmesan cheese from the Italian store so it's about $5 instead....you are right fresh garlic is always better!
