It's just the nature of these things that the most average thing will always win as most people will vote for it. The more original or challenging the work then the greater chance there is that it will be marginalised.

The reason I think that it's becoming the new Imagine (or Bohemian Rhapsody) is that people are told it's great and just repeat it mindlessly. I'm in no doubt that it's a good album, but the best of all time?! The Bends is much better...
