if there's another thread like this, and i'm sure there is, tough.
this one took forever because of the damned staples. yes, i'm aware it's not a perfect square, and no, i haven't added text to it yet. but from the original shot to this version, it took a lot of hard work. i'm pleased with it. probably going to get an A on it

created the background from scratch and meticulously selected myself out of the original negative scan, scanned in and added staples, color corrected, fixed a couple blemishes, took out lettering on tripod, adjusted a ton of other things.

I give it a B. The hairline is too sharp and the way you've chopped the top of your head off makes it look like you couldnt be bothered with that bit. A very faint, feathered dropshadow on the background would probably help too. Also you spent too long on the staples so I deducted a mark for that cause they're barely even noticable.
Yeah I know, I'd be a cunty teacher, which is why I'm not one ;) :p

it's cropped like that for a reason. it's copying a scan of elvis costello's this year's model that was cut off exactly like that, unfortunately. and yeah, the hairline is a bit sharper than i'd like. keep in mind it's my first class, jerk  and there isn't a shadow on the cover either, or on my original photograph, so why would i add one?

Well, it's just that by adding a very very faint shadow you won't appear to be kinda stuck on. Only a very very subtle shadow, I just tried it then and used 85% trans, 85% feather and it looked good (cbf posting it). You've done a good job though, esp. for your first go (y). Hair is always a bitch, too

here you go.
http://www.seangribbon.net/pictures/paper.jpg
the paint, textures, fold, coffee stains and staples are all from different shit i scanned. sometimes i ask myself why i had to make such a silly thing in photoshop. i guess im just a nerd.
oh, and somewhere ive got way better. the company i used to work for organized a beach soccer event that no one showed up to, but they didnt want the sponsors to know that. so i got to photoshop in all these people in the background to make it look like cats showed up. it totally ate my soul.

yeah, those cats were so shady. making me use an art school education for the dark side.
their biggest money maker was having labels pay them to flood trl with calls for whatever artist. the only thing was, they told the label they had 100s of kids calling, it was really 5 knuckleheads in an office with some cellphones. but that didnt stop them from getting paid.
maybe i should blow up their spot, they sure did dick me out of more than a grand... but now im way off topic...

Run DMC with N'Sync (I know, it's blasphemy).
I've done a fair amount of Photoshoppery in my time...but I really doubt there's that much interest.

I have a friend who does all my poster and dvd box art for various film projects. I think he's a wiz in ps
this is the poster for a failed action adventure movie we tried to make in high school (circa 2001)
we decided not to make it when the poster looked better that the movie was.

Mos Geoff, your portfolio looks cool. Do you sell your work or is it purely to show what sort of stuff you do?

this took about two hours from start (scanning the negative, then cleaning it up for at least an hour for dust and scratches) to finish (importing fonts from my prof and such). it's quick and dirty, but it made my professor guffaw, so i'm happy. (y)
