I like that little intro with the sample at the beginning a lot.

I really don't dig the beat too much on this track though. It doesn't seem to have that Kanye feel to it like you'd be expecting. That chorus part where he keeps repeating "ever ever ever ever" and getting higher and higher is kind of annoying too.

It sounds like he really rips this up though. He's kind of got this relentless flow going on this one, and I like that a lot. Not as good as most of his stuff on College Dropout, but it's enough to make me curious about what the rest of the new album is like. According to that MTV News article it doesn't look like we're all going to have to wait too long to see what it sounds like.

On another note... does anyone else think that sample sounds like Shirley Bassey? Am I the only one that knows who that is? Come on, someone.

song is ok, but that chorus lifted from the Outkast song is fuckin annoying!

1) of course that's shirley bassey, lifted from the bond movie....
2) half of the beat is irritating, but it's good during the verses
3) the "forever ever ever" thing he took from outkast is fucking annoying when he does it; he totally ruined it
4)the tinkling harpsichord type sound he throws in is retarded, and makes it sound poorly produced

that being said, it's a decent song

Kanye can't speak. He needs to use his tongue more, work the technique.

His productions are sickening.

Muh, I just recently discovered the Through The Wire LP. So slow the FUCK down.

Reminds me of X-Files. And yah, I could have done without the ever ever, ever.

wow, Im supirsed people actaully dont think mroe highly of this song. I dont find the ever ever annoying, I mean shit I could say the same bout Ms. Jackson. Its part of the song that the whole point, and its so far at the end I mean it doesnt bother me. It great story tellin' and the beat sounds like somethin diffrent then what he been producing. The harps is his trade mark he uses that all the time, so I really dont feel it makes the beat that less good, not the mention its all bout makin the beat more epic, which I think it does a lil. It really good, better then some of the songs on dropout,

His flow has imporved, espically his breath control, if he continues to grow and actaully work he should be one of the greats in terms of making the leap from producer to rapper. Better then Dre certainly (if the whole "he doesnt write his rhymes" is fact). He's really come hard on that track and gets pretty real on it talkin bout the roc.

That being said this is a great song, I think people might just be to picky, epsically given who he is and his tendecy to be "cocky" this song is great. Im really feelin the beat, because, as a rapper myself, this is the type of track to just flow for days on which I could hear myself doin'.

Hey, this is GOOD! (y)

Love the use of "Diamonds Are Forever" by Shirley Bassey.

I didn't think "The College Dropout" was as great as everyone was saying (there were tracks on there that I enjoyed, but I guess it didn't grab me like for everyone else), but I'm now optimistic about this follow-up album.

I like the intro, and the sampling, but the chorus is kinda gay. Could do without the harpsichord too. The beat sounds like RZA on speed.

Not bad. Kanye's rapping has definitely gotten tighter, it shows.

Don't get me wrong, I just assumed we were all thinking the same thing. That it's a good track. So I moved on and critized something more specific..

I've played it like 12 times already. Love that sample.

nothing special.

only part i find exceptional is that one part of the song that kicks in when he raps every ones in a while.

its the 2 beats back and forth kinda fast over the normal beat.

other than that just sounds like more of the same.

Decent.

I wasn't really feeling the beat, but his rhymes were pretty on.

The only part I thought was ill was that 'Diamonds are forever' loop under his raps, but the 'ever ever ever' thing got gay FAST.

I must say, I'm not usually impressed by him as a producer or as an MC, but he rapped well on this track, though his beat was still just above-average. It was only great when it had all those sounds and samples coming underneath it, without them it was barren and kind of boring.

Have you heard the Through the Wire LP? I haven't heard College Dropout, but I can only assume it can't be as good as the tracks on "Through the Wire" .

I'm just going off of the Kanye tracks I've heard/own which aren't many.

All those Twista tracks, his track with Dilated Peoples, Through the Wire, Jesus Walks, and some of his others.

I've never really seen a reason to get hyped for him.

Me neither, but there are some seriously good tracks on the LP, IMO.

Taste is a matter of ... taste

But who can honestly say that this is not a seriously genius beat...? Are we talkin about the same song?

This beat is just supreme. Composing-wise, Sound-wise, Groove wise, production wise. Big up, it touches me right where not many beats touch me

Thats my opinion and yeah, I could do without the everever too, but thats just his choice I guess

hahahha this thread came back, just saw his performnace of it from Live8, have to say I was impressed, messed up a lil bit of his lines but overal energy was great and the live violins, Violas and whatnot and the blindfolds where pure poetic justice. It's still a really really good song. The video is even more intense
