There are two reasons:
1) Some users are requesting that their accounts be deleted. If you posted in threads they started then your posts will disappear accordingly.
2) From time to time we prune threads/posts that are never viewed or are really old (usually really old means rarely viewed) to keep things running smoothly around here.

I know that I posted in a lot of threads that were deleted recently, but I haven't noticed my number decreasing. Hmmm. Maybe I'm just making new posts faster than the old ones disappear. :)

No, there's a reason for that.
When a user's posts are deleted, their post count and the post counts for all users who had posted in their threads are not updated until we run a separate function. Given all the activty on the board lately we'll probably run that function and everybody's post counts will be revised (downwards I suppose for the most part).

Minton, I don't think you understand what that means: Spanishbomb will have to start posting again. :p

I have found Yauch's post counts were decreased recently.
Is it due to the same reason??
Yauch hasn't been here for some time...I miss him :(
I hope all is well with B-boys and co. (y)

when ur post count goes down does that mean all the posts of that number have been deleted?

we'll delete posts based on not only how old the thread is, but how old the last post in that thread is - so sometimes one thread will be deleted while a slightly oder thread is spread.

I like how my Magritte thread is gone, but the boobies thread is still alive and kicking even though the creator of that thread was banned. (n)

I guess we all have to bump our favorite old threads occassionally. :)

In this instance, the author of the thread was banned but not deleted. Banned and deleted are two different things. If people stop posting in that thread/viewing it, then it will go in a future purge obviously.

Oops. I didn't mean to use that word. Usually I refer to it as a "prune". Sorry.
