I know questions have been asked on here about best songs, lyrics and such, but i dont think this question has been asked. Whats your fav beat in a beastie song? Whats makes you get the fuck up and crazy!?

Without question for me the BEST most UNIQUE beat to any of there songs is "Alright Hear This"! I love that damn beat! Top notch. I suppose they chose this song as their opener in many concerts ranging from 94-present day. Best one for me is in 98 Vienna Austria, mixmaster's opening scratches went straight into alright hear this. DOPE SHIT!

Wow, this is a hard but good question.

LTI- Posse In Effect & Paul Revere
PB- 3 minute rule, Hello Brooklyn, & Mike on the mic
CYH- So Watcha Want, & Professor Booty
IC- Get It Together, Flute Loop, The Scoop, Transitions...
HN- Super Disco Breakin', Putting Shame in Your Game, Intergalactic...
TT5B- Right Right Now Now, Crawlspace...
Other- Beastie Groove, CCIO-Just Blaze Remix...

But If I had to choose out of all of those it would probably be Intergalactic. Or whatever, they're all good I can't choose, I skipped a lot of good ones and I know it! :o :p

My current favourites are (in this order) Open Letter to NYC, Shazam, the Brouhaha and Crawlspace. All of those are off the hook!

From earlier albums, Car Thief, Sure Shot and Finger Lickin' Good deserve to be recognized.

I'm very glad you mentioned this tune, to me it represents everything good about the Beasties. The rhyming, the rawness, the distortion...and how staright up different it is from other hip hop, I guess that's what your saying with the unique thing. The samples used on the chorus work as well as anything the boys have sample before...but yeah fucking great song! That's the only disappointment I'll have with the live DVD, I'd love a decent live copy of that tune!

As far as other beats go...whatever they sampled on Right Right Now Now (Partridge family sample?) creates a wicked beat, I love the real simple raw shit to, on something like say Dope Little Song...there's barely a beat there, but it's so effective. That's ultimately the best thing about them, they can take anything, put some rhymes down, and make it sound shit hot

common, you can't ask that... however, you just did. :p

on the whole; every beat got its own thing going on. but the one's i dig the most are Desperado, Skills To Pay The Bills, and B-Boys Makin' With The Freak Freak. which reminds me...

(!) never listen to BBMWTFF if you just woken up from a nightmare. (!)

The greatest piece of music ever composed is Root Down.

If I had to take two songs to preserve for the future, so motherfuckers would know what hip hop was, I'd use Root Down and Peter Piper.

Johnn Ryall sounds awesome, does anybody of you know what type of instrument (if it's one...) is used in the refrain, sounds a bit oriental.

damn.. and i thought i had some underground ish. where can i peep that demo? how diff is it from what's on paul's boutique?

you know what's so funny? i spent my entire adolescence searching for underground records and whatnot... especially beastie boys ish (and i was pretty successful). but now i can link with someone who probably has it all and more. whew. times they are a changin'.

but you know what? nothing beat that feeling when i came across a gem... like when i snagged the Shadrach EP on Vinyl. Or a bootleg copy of the 1998, last minute, sneak show that i saw at the Electric Factory in Philly when i was out visiting my friend in Santa Monica, CA.
