An Internet radio show, a podcast, an associated blog: standard accessories for today's musically inclined high school freshman. But Zoe Rogers, 14, host of Zoeradio (www.zoeradio.com), has a few other things to show off: on-air call-ins from Aubrey Graham of the television series "Degrassi: The Next Generation" and Mike D of the Beastie Boys; feelers from several cable networks about a possible television version of her show; and an honorific from Elle Girl magazine that can't be printed here.

Zoe got her start last year when her father, Ian (http://www.beastiemania.com/whois/rogers_ian_c/) , a former Beastie Boys Webmaster who has extensive music-business connections, posted a mix she had made to his personal Web site. A friend who has an Internet radio station saw it and suggested that Zoe have a show, an idea she took to immediately: "I got to talk about whatever the hell I wanted to talk about," she said, "and nobody got to say anything. And I got to play my favorite music and I could be a goofball."

In the weekly broadcast from the Rogerses' home in Santa Monica, Calif., Zoe leans toward the outlying regions of singer-songwriter and guitar rock, with liberal doses of old-school hip-hop like Pharcyde. But she confesses to knowing all the songs on the radio and being addicted to "American Idol": "It's the worst show ever made, but I watch it." Below, some selections from Zoe's show last Sunday, with her comments:

'LADYFLASH,' THE GO! TEAM "I always start the show with that. I play the first five seconds just as an intro."

'GOOD LUCK,' BASEMENT JAXX "Supergood beat. The person singing is from the Bellrays; she's just singing over a supercool beat."

'SWITCH,' WILL SMITH "When I watched the Kids' Choice Awards he performed that song. It was a pretty good dance song but it's not a good song."

'LIQUID BOY,' TREEPEOPLE "It's Doug Martsch's first band. Similar to Built to Spill...ish. It's a funny song, making no sense at all, but it sounds pretty good. But of course it's Doug Martsch so the instrumentation is kind of fun."

'STRUNG OUT AGAIN,' ELLIOT SMITH "It's really kind of sad and depressing that he's not around to do it anymore. One of the only songs on my computer."

'BEAT ON THE BRAT,' THE RAMONES "I was 11 or 12 when my dad got me 'Leave Home.' I love the Ramones. I've been listening to them my whole life."

'I SEE COLOURS,' EDAN "That's a new one. It has a funny chorus. It's a bunch of samples, and then the chorus goes: 'Red and yellow. Green blue.' Then Biz Markie jumps in saying 'Rainbow.' "

'SAD GIRLS POR VIDA,' PRETTY GIRLS MAKE GRAVES "I love it so much, just watching it in concert is so crazy. There's all these teenage girls dancing and having a great time. The song creates the most energy."

Thanks for the info! Ian posted a link on the board a few months back too.

Sidenote: They pulled Zoe onstage to dance at the Milwaukee HN show in '98.
