I've heard a few of Sun Ra's albums; not enough to really get the full scope, because supposedly he was all over the place.

The stuff I heard I admired a lot, but didn't listen to a lot. It was pretty demanding, like some of Coltrane's later stuff is: really good, but it needs your attention to really appreciate it, so it's not very good for driving, for social settings, exercising, or cleaning the house, you know?

I got into Sun Ra about ten years ago and you can really appreciate his music while on shit loads of psychedelic drugs (y)
