Alrighty, I was in Dallas a couple of weeks ago so I went to a wonderful store that I go to every time I'm in the area called Forever Young (okay, it's not technically in Dallas) where I bought Paul Weller's self titled solo debut ($8). Then I moseyed (since I was in Texas) on over to the Virgin Megastore on Mockingbird Lane where I bought a Franz Ferdinand single ($3). Yes, it was Take Me Out, it was the only one they had, and I couldn't afford the whole album. I also wanted to get a Scissor Sisters single, but they didn't have that either.

Then today I went out to try to find a Jam DVD. I went to FYE, Barnes and Noble, Borders, and Best Buy, but none had it and none of the people working there even knew who the Jam were. Luckily I stumbled upon the second and third Jam albums on one disc while I was at Borders and I bought that for a mere fifteen bucks. While at Best Buy I was tempted to buy a couple of Small Faces CDs for $20, but by that point I was running low on cash, so I decided to wait a little while.

So yeah, those were my most recent music purchases.

The Jam has a DVD out?!?

p.s. dearie, singles only count when they're big, black and 12 inches, and I totally ment that to be non-sexual. I've got my eye on a Franz vinyl single, but I can't justify spending 10 bucks on it.

Ooh, that reminds me. At Forever Young I found a really kick ass vinyl, out of print import of The Jam's Beat Surrender EP. It also had a differnet cover than any of the other copies I've seen. And it was only fifteen bucks! But I didn't have enough money to get it. Damn my inability to keep money in my wallet! :(

I nearly bought a Jam collection on vinyl today. four sides of rare tracks. but it was twenty dollars, and I was already loaded up with elvis costello albums, because someone had apparently unloaded a mess of elvis costello and ian drury albums. I got Punch the Clock, Almost Blue, a few live bootlegs, and the Live Stiffs tour LP. I'm having them hold that Jam collection and XTC's second album for me, becuase I'm that awesome.

You are that awesome. Unfortunately, living in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I am unable to ask a record store in Texas to hold an album for a couple of weeks for me. :(

Damn, damn, damn.

I have The Jam's DVD, its called The Complete Jam (2002) and its fuckin brilliant. There are 2 discs;

Disc 1: 1977-79. Live TV appearances and singles with videos and a mini doc called 'The Jam - A time and place'.

Disc 2: 1980-82. Live Tv appearances and singles with videos again with a thing about fans of the Jam.

The TV appearances are great, really rockin. There are also a few interviews from these where Weller shows what a nice charming fella he is.

You gotta get it Rosie!

I know. I need it so badly, but I can't find it anywhere here! I even tried asking for it and all I heard was "umm, never heard of it" or "that's not something we would have in stock". And they won't order just one copy, just because it's something they've never heard of! Fucking bastards. Looks like I'm stuck with Amazon. :(

You need to learn to give up. I've quit hoping or expecting a record store in our state would have...or even know what the fuck I was talking about. Although Tulsa's scene is a bit better than the one over here....

I usually just blow a huge load whenever I go record shopping out of state....or buy online. But it's way more fun to go crazy digging through the bins in real life.

It's interesting viewing you guys in that "hick" state of Oklahama.

Alberta is pretty hick as well, but I can go to record stores where people will know what the fuck I'm talking about... and how.

But then again, I'm in Edmonton, where we're a lot more of a literate bunch than the rest of the province. ;)
