I believe Laurie is referring to the original "Intergalactic." I suppose I can transcribe the lyrics. Gimme a little time. Right off, I can correct what Junker posted. It's:

The spice is the worm, and the worm is the spice.

It's from the sci-fi novel Dune by Frank Herbert. (y)

awsome, thanks Miramanee ! I know your good at doing this, I remember when ya did Brrr Stick Em, so well done (y)

I did my best with the transcription. As usual, it's Horovitz' lines that I struggled with the most. I think I have a problem with transcribing his lines in any song because they don't always make sense. That is, they're stupid (good stupid usually), but bad stupid in this case. I can't figure out what his words are by asking, "What makes sense?" He often doesn't make sense at all. :D

I only identified one of the samples. Maybe someone can identify the others?

If you disagree with any part of my transcription, please post the correction. I have no idea what they're saying in the Shawn Kemp verse.

Intergalactic (original version)
aka All-Space Doodoo Rhymes

3: Well, I'm intergalactic planetary, planetary intergalactic

Y: Well, the spice is the worm, and the worm is the spice
I'm battling an alien when I'm on the mic
H: Like the Great Gadzook when I'm on the one [on the wand?]
D: I'll phase the motherfuckers when my mic's on stun

3: Satellite dish, spaceship communication
D: Gravity boning, space fornication

H: I'm getting stupider
Y: When I'm on Jupiter
D: On Uranus
H: And that's just heinous
D: And my name is Mike D, and I'm the first man on the moon with the three-wood teaking [?]

Y: I was suspended in animation just the other day
Well, I was in the night, dancing on the milkyway
H: Because I'm getting funky with dilithium crystals
Lieutenant Uhura
[Sample from Jerky Boys' "Uncle Freddie"] This is Kissel

Y [spoken in a robotic voice]: Warning, warning. We have intruders on sector G7, level 9. Warning.

Y: Now I'm-a break it down with the Dr. Spock shit
D: Pinch ya buck naked, leave ya in the cockpit
H: I'm like the cover of Jimmy's Mr. Loose [?]
Y: Well, I be breakin' this space in my gravity shoes
D: I got tickets to Interzone
H: So why don't you beam me up?

D: We're kings in orbit
[Sample] with the scratchin' cuts
H: I do doodle on a paper like my name was scheme
Y: Your galaxy is my bombing theme

D: Well, I'm worth your while
3: While you're while my worth
[Sample] Planet rhymin' is my place of birth

D: I'm fallin' like Shawn Kemp from the Supersonics
H: I got the corner of the king with the fat cue on Knicks [What?!]
Y: I'll be in the crater and you know I slapped it
3: Planetary intergalactic

D: Battlestar one is G-Son
We're gonna rock the universe for everyone
H: We're gonna rock the universe for everyone
Y: We're gonna rock the universe for everyone
3: We're gonna rock the universe for everyone

H: So Mario, rock the universe
D: So Hurricane, rock the universe
Y: So Money Mark, rock the universe
H: So Bobo, rock the universe
D: So Awol, rock the universe
Y: And everyone, rock the universe
3: And everyone, rock the universe
3: And everyone

Sci-fi references explained

The Star Trek references are probably recognizable to most people: phase/stun, dilithium crystals, Lieutenant Uhura, Spock, beam up.

Dune: "The spice is the worm, and the worm is the spice" is a pivotal line and moment in the novel. It's when Muad'Dib realizes that the two are connected. That knowledge gives him ultimate power.

"Interzone" refers to one of two things. It's either a reference to a bad 1980s sci-fi movie with the title of Interzone or a reference to Naked Lunch, a novel by William Burroughs. In the early 90s, David Cronenberg made a film of Naked Lunch. Interzone is a location in the story. The film Naked Lunch was big with the sci-fi ubergeeks, so it's the more likely reference.

"Battlestar" is a generic sci-fi reference, usually used to describe a spaceship of some kind (e.g., Battlestar Galactica).

Other references explained

Do doodle = graffiti
Scheme = Graffiti cleaning (i.e., removal) is referred to as "graffitti scheme"
G-Son = G-Son Studios in Los Angeles

Damn....thanks for the lyric dude!!!!!
I was looking for it and I've never found it..

In the MTV Movie Awards from last spring when the Beasties were performing, I love the way Yauch half cracks up at Horovitz's pink champale line. I wonder how often they do that (still lose it over the lyrics or the way they're delivered).

By the way, it's all about Battlestar Galactica these days.

I mentioned Edward James Olmos to this twentysomething kid the other day and he was like, "Duh, who's that?"

For real.

Just a couple of changes as I hear it- I think they make more sense when you listen to it.

Nice one for transcribing it, I could never be bothered to do that AND explain all the references. (y) I usually just figure if you can't tell what a band is saying then you shouldn't be listening to their music. ;)

Peace.

i definitly think they are scifi geeks inside, but look how far they came! most wouldnt let their star wars cravings get them anywhere...but saskwatch and "intergalactic" and the "ch-ch-check it out" video are proof they are! but its not a bad thing. adds more flavor to their style.
