There is really no purpose to this thread except to say that I just finished my best weekend ever / ascension to higher plane of existence, and it was amazing. Friday the 6th I saw Jurassic 5 at Lupo's in Providence, and then The Mars Volta at Lupo's on the 7th. They were both incredible in different ways. Jurassic 5 are truly amazing entertainers; they had me totally in the show the entire time, and they were really nice people, signing autographs and greeting fans and such. They played some songs from their new album, and my friend got a setlist so if anyone cares to know I can post the titles of some of the new songs they did. The Mars Volta was a much different experience, still equally enjoyable, because I just love that feeling that what they just played is one of a kind and will never be played in that way ever again. The best is when they are jamming out and they build and build into this climactic moment where they drop back into a scripted segment of a song, god its just heavenly. So yeah, I just figured I'd share, if anyone else was at either of those concerts, or just w/e, wants to say something, feel free, this thread is kinda silly.

That is an awesome combo. They should have had enough sense to play together. It's all about cross-genre shows these days.
P.S. Mars Volta will be opening for System Of A Down on the coming tour...

yeah i heard about that and I'm pumped. I think that will be interesting to see how the different crowds react to each others' musical tastes. I mean, I'm a big fan of Volta and SOAD, but there are a lot of people who listen to metal only or indie music only or whatever, and it's gonna be interesting to see how they go together.

Rick Rubin is the common factor... he is the producer of both.
I think that people that listen to those bands probably have wide tastes/open minds and will seriously dig it.
