ok perhaps that was a bit rude, but seriously.
I read a guitar magazine interview with adrock, from the check
your head era... (it also had an interview with ler from primus)he basically said MCA taught him the only scale he knows.

although beastie boys have a way of making you wonder about what
they are doing, they keep it real simple, they use texture and expression
more than technical type things, when they play thier insturments.

I understand some people are more busy than me and might not have the time to figure out things, but I learned how to play guitar/bass by switching the first ramones album to left or right side only...

c'mon... its easy.

Yeah I had all the time in the world to sit around and pick out songs or learn them from transcriptions BEFORE I became a parent. Now my guitar, though played daily, takes a backseat to the rest of my family.

Come people. Someone has to know how to play this song.

Does anyone know if there is a book of sheet music that contains this song? i've looked at a few music stores but they didn't have anything by the beastie boys

I saw a book that had the entirety of Hello Nasty on piano/guitar/drums. Not really the best album for that kind of thing but whatever. I didn't buy it.

I have a Hello Nasty book for piano, vocals and guitar. And I don't even play any instruments... (but I do know most of the piano notes).

Too bad the song I need tabbed isn't on Hello Nasty. Damn it to hells.

stop being lazy, learn it yourself

geez colby, chill out.

you could have learned it yourself by now. you'll learn alot more about playing guitar by doing it that way anyhow. easy song to teach yourself, don't be lazy.

You kind of need a foundation to teach yourself things though. I've been playing guitar for a couple months now and I can't play by ear at all because I don't really know what chords/notes are being played. I can tell when a tab someone else made is wrong though.

you gotta use your ears, friends. thats how you get good. play each note one at a time until you find the root (the one that sounds "right" with the song or chord).

the transitions guitar part is an easy one to figure out too because it's all single notes, you don't need to figure out full chords. unfortunately though, colby, i think you're mistaking mark's wah-clav for a guitar part. the guitar doesn't even come in until 54 seconds.

It never occurred to me that it was a wah clav.... I thought it was all Adam H. Hmmm...

I wonder if there is a way to tab the wah clav for a guitar??

there definitely is. but you'd definitely need a wah pedal regardless to make it sound even remotely as dope. wah's are the shiznit, for reals. there ain't no way to emulate a wah driven part though without one (without sounding chessy, that is.)

I knew there was a wah involved... but didn't think it was done with a keyboard.

Ok.. can someone tab the keyboard parts (basically the entire song) of Transitions for the gee-tar? Thanks!

Here's my go at Transitions from Ill Communication. This is the bass and the keyboard arranged for guitar. This is alot easier to play with a capo on the 3rd fret, but this tab is without capo. No real rhythm indications either, listen to the track.
