Who was the DJ who was on tour with the Beastie Boys circa 1998?
He would play in the sideshow areas. He was a local DJ from NYC, I think his first name was Frankie.
He was the resident DJ at a party in NYC at SOBs where they sold 40 ozs of Colt 45.

Anyone know who I'm talking about???

if there was a dj ontour with beastie boys it was probably mix master mike. he was their dj then. still is now. otherwise i dont know

I just got a copy of the 1995 Sydney Australia gig the Beasties played. And they say Puerto Rico Hooooooo quite a bit. Hurra was on the tables but I wonder if Frankie was around?

perhaps but the beasties are known for adding other rappers/singers lyical content to thier live shows.

I'd love to know the story behind this (if there is a story). Until I heard this one particular show I had never heard them say Puerto Rico HOOOOO before in any other shows.

I think Astrobboy was there. I wonder if has any info.

Yep, I was there. That was nearly 10 years ago.
I do remember them yelling out "Puerto Rico" a lot that night, and having no idea why. But I don't really remember more much other than some of my favourite bands played - Beasties, Kim Deal (Pixies/Breeders/Amps) and Sonic Youth.
Great way to spend New Years Eve.

I spoke to Frankie again the other day and he said he's done a million shows and its possible he spun for the boys.
