Yo, I'm French and I can say that the french rap is dead since 5-6 years. Anyway, it's the way concerning most of rappers. Fortunately, there are few good rapper but they're not very popular. Among these I can quote: "Klub des loosers" (the greatest lyrics i have ever heard in a french rap), "TTC" (their last album contained good electro/hip-hop productions but it's special), "Psykick Lyrikah" (great lyrics), "Gravité Zero" but the rappers who pass in radio are either fresh products of major label or ridiculous rappers who take them for french 50 cents in a "gangsta-style" (so I don't like 50 cent...). Besides I listen above all hip-hop rap (but not mainstream) ans the besatie boy of course.

Concerning the old french rappers I advise you to listen "NTM" and "I AM" if you don't know.

So there are some french producters who work with us mc like "Le peuple de l'herbe" (instrumental dub/hip-hop) or "Electro Deluxe" (instrumental played, blend of funk, electro-jazz, and a bit of hip-hop).
