i just want to say that i LOVE this forum! it's the bomb. it's just like one big "favourite" poll. and everyone has an opinion on food. and all dem krazy americans have such weird shit! it's great. i love it. so there you go.

anyhoo, what's your ideal breakfast, in a perfect world? half the time i don't have time to cook anything proper so this would be in an ideal situation. and not all together!:

-bagel with [well!] cooked unsmoked bacon and sliced hard boiled egg with a little cheese
-cheese omelette
-full english breakfast, the classic.

Oh yes! My absolute favourite. For health reasons it's not a frequent delight, but when I do have it, oh my life. My tastebuds are tantalized. With grease mostly but mmmm!

Otherwise, give me toast and marmite anyday! With a pot of fromage frais and a ton or cranberry/orange juice!

My favorite breakfast is what I eat each morning: a slice of raisin bread or toast.

I dunno really, it kind of depends. Like, at a nice Sunday brunch restaurant with a proper chef to do a nice hollendaise, you just can't beat fine plate of eggs benedict, you know?

A simple breakfast-in-bed in a Paris hotel room of just fresh croissants and strong coffee is pretty damn great as well.

Or, how about pancakes, cooked on a cast iron griddle over an open fire in the middle of the woods on a camping trip?

And eating slices of fresh melon and pam amb tomaquet on a sun-drenched terrace overlooking the sparkling Mediterranen drinking fresh squeezed orange juice was, as I recall, a rather fine way to start the day as well.

Even a lowly bowl of oatmeal can be a marvelous thing on a cold wintry morning, with a dot of butter or cream and a sprinkling of cinnamon and nutmeg.

I rarely eat breakfast, but if there is any doritos in the house. My cat sammy always rips the bag open though and they end up stale, they're good with hot sauce. (y)

I'm really conservative when it comes to my breakfast. It's always the same bowl of natural youghurt, sliced banana and cereals. I love real french pain au chocolat though, but unfortunately I live in a country where you just can't get them.

I'm a big guy and I'm American... so you know I love a HUGE breakfast. Lucky for me, Cracker Barrel serves breakfast all the time and when I get a hankerin' I can just stroll on over there. Here's what it is:

Two buttermilk pancakes smothered in maple syrup, two scrambled eggs with colby cheese melted on top, four sausage links, two biscuits with sausage gravy over 'em. Oh man, now that's the stuff you know you can't deny. Drink with as many glasses of milk as needed.

yum. i always go to denny's with this one friend and we always order from the breakfast menu no matter what time it is. i usually get the lumberjack breakfast? i know it's called something like that... it's:

stack of pancakes, hash browns, eggs, sausage, bacon... and i get a glass of o.j.

i either get that or the french toast with all that good stuff. mmmm. we always tell each other to roll us outta there cuz we're so full. we spend hours in there!

home-made hashbrowns made from baked potatoes cooked the night before in the oven

flax bread toast with peach jam

glass of tropicana OJ
glass of store bought chocolate milk
cup of peach apricot honeybush tea with a tablespoon of honey

and for desert, fresh smoothie made with any assortment of orangy yellow fruit

-thick slices of white toast [1 with marmite, 1 with anatoth's apricot or raspberry jam]
-bowl of coco-pops
-yogurt
-orange juice or apple juice
-a few feijoas or golden kiwifruit
-cup of tea with milk

i cant do the fry up on a regular basis, i feel kinda gross after eating bacon and eggs and sausages. of the things listed, i can usually only do the tea and the toast.

that sounds just too delicious.
i don't even know what fucking "buttermilk pancakes" are but i know they sound hella good.
biscuits? biscuits in this country are what you guys would call cookies, i guess. cookies like oreos. so i am intrigued by this biscuit business. and gravy for your breakfast? KER-AZY!
your crazy american breakfasts. that's half the reason i started this thread to find out what the real peeps eat.. wow, i better get over there real quick.

I never really do anything, cook anything, special for breakfast even when i got the time. At rare ocasions i might make some scrambled eggs and bacon, but that hasn't been for a good while.

I eat the same stuff everyday. A huge cup of tea, and some sandwiches with that. I put ham / tomato / cucumber / marmelade on the sandwiches. It does the job.

Well, biscuits over here are kind of like rolls... only a little flakier. I guess I'm not really sure how to describe it. The gravy for them isn't exactly the same gravy you would put on mashed potatoes either... it's a white gravy with little chunks of sausage inside of it. Really good. Here (http://www.wareaglemill.com/images/breakfast.jpg)'s a (small) picture for you.

As far as buttermilk pancakes go... they're pretty much the same as any other pancake with the addition of buttermilk. Scope out the recipe for the batter right here (http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,165,154184-228202,00.html). I don't buy that powder stuff, 'cause nothing beats making the batter yourself.
