I can't remember the anchor's name; I know his face, but I'd say its safe to assume he is a least very familiar with the Boys and is probably a fan.

three the hard way has always been a basketball term before TT5B was released. it means to score a basket and get the foul to go with it, hitting the extra free throw(also known as And One)

it is more safe to assume that the song "three the hard way" is a basketball/hip-hop reference- not the other way around...
