i hate class rings...my school colours being blue and white, my parents bought me a diamond sapphire ring instead. Much more tasteful, but that's just my opinion...

I think that the old fashioned ones are ugly. The old school, vintage looking gold ones. But I like this one, it kinda reminds me of the superbowl ring (y)
I like Big, shiny bling, what can i say?

I got one in high school but not college.
My son got his high school ring three years ago and it was $475 /U.S. then. And that's not even the most expensive one--I think his was less than middle of the road cost- and features-wise.
I think they're all pretty ugly to tell you the truth and you probably won't wind up wearing your high school ring again after high school. A lot of people at my work (at a university) wear their college rings. I think that's odd--like wearing your sports letter jacket at age 50 or something.

i'm going to get a ring for graduation, just not a grad ring like that. I can see that people would like them , i just rather have nice ring, without my school on it.

I never bought one either. They weren't really my "thing"... I thought I'd save all my stuff from high school and then 2 seconds after graduation, I was ready to pretty much throw everything out. So glad I didn't spend that kind of cash on the ring...

My highschool wouldn't let me buy a class ring because I was behind in my tuition. (I was paying it myself.)
They wouldn't let me go to prom, either, for the same reason.
I try not to hang on to shit but to this day I really hate that fucking school.

Canada is the 51st state.
Let's just say class rings are NOT what you'll see in Britain.

How much are they?
If I get that one exactly how it is (the changes for the designes and everything are free) Its gonna cost me around $424.95 without the shipping/tax charge because I'll get it sent to my school.
but with the tax and shipping + Handleing its gonna probably be 5
My grandpa says that thats about what he payed for his, and I know its a lot of money that I really dont have, but that's the only thing im gonna have to remember high school.
Not to mention it'll be around forever
Its kinda a school tradition that everyone gets a ring.

I did mine for the memories.
Yeah, I never wear mine either. Its in a box where someday my kids will have to decide whether to keep it as a memento or hock it for some cash.

If you have a boyfriend, do you still wrap loads of yarn around his ring so that his ring fits your finger? The yarn gets really dirty and gross and it drove my mom crazy.

No now we just go to the dollar store and spend the buck to get a ring fitter.

I've never heard of such a thing. That's how long it's been since I wore a guy's ring. :p
P.S. For some reason, I can't see your photo. It happens once in a blue moon on here. Maybe because I have a mac?

My high school class ring was really pretty. I ended up giving it to my boyfriend when he went off to fight in the Gulf War and he left it in his bag with his gear and someone stole it. So the last place I can imagine it is in a pawn shop in Kuwait.
And Documad, I wrapped yarn around his. It was angora and you fluffed it all out and stuff. It was a fashion thing in itself, you know. Shit, I'm old.

The companies are completely shameless.
But I think there are things you just can't tell someone else. Yeah, most people don't wear their high school rings for long, but it's super important to some people for that certain period of time. I really wanted one, so if I had a kid who wanted one, I'd cave. [My mom wouldn't let me have Adidas either, so now I have about 10 pair. Damn her.]

I wore my mom's class ring the whole time I was in junior high. It was all retro and hip and stuff.

We did yarn, then dental floss and finally coats of nail polish. Memories!
As for my own class ring I wanted a pink stone for some reason but then I left it stone-down in a puddle of beer overnight at a party after graduation and there's a weird discolored spot under the stone now. Not that I really wanted to wear it after senior year, but :( . Learn from my mistake, people. Don't leave your jewelry in a puddle of beer.
This discussion sent me to my jewelry box. I think the ring is back at my folks' house. It is nice to have for the memories (even the flaw reminds me of partying with my friends back in the day). But if I never got one I probably wouldn't be missing it. *shrug*

What kind of "features" can a ring have? Cyanide capsule? Laserbeam?

Never wore mine after high school....so the weird thing is you buy them at the end of your high school stint never to wear them again since after high school, you don't want people to think you're still in high school. Makes sense.

well I don't have pictures of my high school or college class rings. My college ring cracks me up though cause I had "420 Grad" engraved on the inside along with my intials and grad date. it was kind of of an "in your face, I smoked pot and still got a degree" kinda thing.
