the bassist matt freeman has been diagnostised of a lung cancer...
he played in rancid & the transplants..
if you dont know him and how great he was, listen to the song "maxwell murder from rancid", here's an incredible bass solo from him

Yeah, I don't know anything about bass playing, but I was listening to that song the other day and thought, that guy has to be one of the best bass players around. Wow. That's too bad.


EDIT: P.S. One of the reasons I love this board is that I don't have any friends who would ever listen to And Out Come the Wolves, much less know which song has the best bass part. :)

Rancid is my 2nd favourite band of all time, I hope he recovers soon.
I met him once at the Bizarre festival back in 98 and I must says he's one of the must down to earth and friendliest musicians I've ever met (the list ain't short)

I'm really shocked about that... :(

i agree, i just got into their music, and that is one of THE coolest (and one of the only) bass solos of all time.

This fucking sucks because Rancid is one of my favorite bands and he is one of the best Bassists around.

another fucking awsome solo by him is on The album "Rancid 2000" the song is "AXIOM" i think its a little bit better than Maxwell because its not as well known and its fucking fast as hell, not as long though.






Actually Rancid 2000 is probably Rancid's and his best album. he had a kick ass voice to.
