I am thinking of buying 2 turntables and a mixer. Anyways, I know it would sound better with a speaker system, but is it necesary. Can I still listen to m scratching and listening to the beats without a speaker?

The short answer is "yes."

I'm not going to go into all the tiny details, but it might be a little but weird when it comes to cueing up records and things like that. I'm sure you've got a stereo system that you could just plug your mixer into if it really was bothering you that much though.
