NURSE SHARK!

http://www.sharks.com/types-of-sharks/shark-pictures/nurse-shark-picture-01.jpg

General Information: The Nurse Shark is a sluggish bottom dweller, that is rarely aggressive unless provoked. It has a stout body, obvious barbels, and strong jaws.Behind each eye it has a spiracle, a special organ that takes in water for breathing when the shark is at rest on the ocean bottom. It is a nocturnal hunter and often rests during the day. This is one shark that does well in captivity.

Size: These sharks are 2-13 feet in length.

Teeth: The nurse shark has thousands of replacable, fan-shaped serrated teeth, that are capable of crushing shellfish.

Color: The nurse shark is generally a dary brown-grey. some have speckles.

Feeding Habits: Nurse Sharks eat bottom dwelling creatures like fish, shrimp, squid, octopus, lobsters and sea urchins. The barbels help them locate food at night, as they are vey sensitive to touch.

Senses: The barbels on the snout are very sensitive to touch, and help this shark sus out food in the dark.

Social Behavior: Nurse Sharks gather in schools. Sluggish, they often rest during the day, sometimes piled on top of each other on the ocean bottom.

Habitat | Migration | Distribution: Nurse SHarks live in warm, shallow waters to a depth of about 70 feet. They are common in corral reefs, and near mudflats and sand-bars. Nurse Sharks can be found in the western Atlantic Ocean and the eastern Pacific Ocean.

Life Span: Undetermined

Reproduction: Nurse Sharks are aplacental vivaparous breeders. In aplacental viviparity, the eggs develop inside the body after internal fertilization and hatch within the body of the mother. Litters consist of 20-30 pups that are tiny replicas of the adult.
Nurse Sharks mature at 15-20 years old.

Swimming: Slow and lumbering swimmers most of the time, but can dart away when startled.

Population Report: This shark is not endangerd.

GOBLIN SHARK! (sorry, mikey made me do it)

http://www.sharks.com/types-of-sharks/shark-pictures/goblin-shark-picture-01.jpg

General Information: The Goblin Shark resides at the ocean bottom. It has a slender body, a long snout, a rounded dorsal, pectoral and anal fins and a weakly developed lower lobe of the caudal fin. It has small eyes, a long flattened snout and protruded jaws.

Size: 3.8 meters long

Teeth: At the front of its mouth, the Goblin Shark has long, sharp teeth, that are used for catching their prey. The lower teeth are slightly shorter than the upper teeth. At the back of the mouth, the teeth are smaller and are used for crushing prey.
Color: The Goblin Shark has soft, pale pinkish-grey skin, which is paler on the belly.
Feeding Habits: This shark feeds at the ocean bottom on squid, crustaceans, and other fishes found at the bottom of the ocean.
Senses: The undersides of the Goblin Shark's snout is heavily pored. These pores are the external openings of the sharks electricity detecting organs, the ampullae of Lorenzini, which most likely are used to help it hunt.
Social Behavior: This Shark is very rarely encountered, and as such nothing is known about its social behavior.
Habitat | Migration | Distribution: The Goblin SHark is found in scattered locations in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans, to depths of about 1200. It resides mainly on the ocean bottom.
Life Span: This is unknown, as the shark is rarely encountered
Reproduction: Little is known about this sharks reproduction, but it is believed almost certainly to be ovoviviparous. No pregnant specimen has ever been found.
Swimming: This is an apparently sluggish fish.
Population Report: The population of this shark is not known, but is believed to be plentiful. It is not believed to be at risk

cosmo105
05-26-2005, 01:18 PM
The sex of a shark can be easily determined. The males all have their pelvic fins modified into a pair of claspers. The name is somewhat misleading as they are not used to hold on to the female, but are the shark's version of the mammalian penis. (As a side note, Class Chondrichthyes has the distinction of having the animal with the largest intromittent organ - an organ used for transmitting sperm - in relation to body length. This animal is the clearnose skate (Raja eglanteria) which has claspers of 15 cm (6 in) in size on a fish that reaches 1 m (3 feet) in length.)

yes they do. the males have two appendages between their anal fins. those are the "dicks"

sharkology says "The reproductive organs of the male shark include the claspers and a pair of testis. The claspers are modifications of the pelvic fins and have the function of transferring the semen from the male into the female cloaca"

i dont know if i can interpret that as you being right though
theyre probably not considered two separate dicks

now make me laugh
