I find it pretty hilarious how the remaining Nixon cronies (Liddy, Buchanan, etc.) are now crawling out of the woodwork to vilify Felt (http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,15475330-28793,00.html), when they themselves were involved with the crimes that comprised the scandal in the first place.

"He should've followed proper procedure" in the context of Watergate is akin to confessing to the wolves in the den — I'm sure they would've LOVED for Felt to report to them their own deeds — it would've made it MUCH easier to get rid of him.

Today Fox News is running the Felt story on its website, but the angle is: "Heroic or not?" and the unspoken, but suggested conclusion, is that Felt is basically just a rat.

Gordon Liddy — a Nixon operative who engineered the ill-fated 1972 break-in at the Democratic National Campaign headquarters in the Watergate complex and served four and a half years in jail for it — said Felt had "violated the ethics of the law enforcement profession" by taking his information outside legal channels.

These criminals should have a snare drum after each punchline.

On another note, Deep Throat (Mark Felt) said one of the most profound investigative truths of the past 50 years, "Follow the Money". With todays money trail so easy and obvious to follow, I'm surprised we are so far behind the eight ball.

Where is our generations Mark Felt? Is he here but we have no Woodward or Bernstein?
