In a shocking move, Infinity Radio has dumped oldies from their stalwart station WCBS FM 101.1. Out with "The Greatest Hits of All Time" and in with Jack FM which is "the best songs from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, right up through today." So long Harry Harrison, Ron Lundie, and Cousin Brucie. The Daily News reports that they ended the oldies format with Frank Sinatra's "Summer Wind" and entered the Jack era with "Fight for Your Right" from the Beastie Boys. While Gothamist loves the Beasies, we will really miss our oldies.

The "thought process" is that with iPods and such that are available today... why have an oldies station when you could fill up an iPod with 300 songs and have your own oldies station, minus the commercials.

You know what I hate about corporate radio? Fight For Your Right is very cool, hilarious even, and really floored me the first time I hard it, but it is still about the Beasties' 50th best song ever. Yet, out of all their music, it gets 90% of the airplay.
