I'll never understand the concept of those women's turtleneck sweaters that have the neck all stretched out. Why is that fashionable? It looks like someone with the fattest head imaginable tried it on and then just left it in the clothing store and then some idiot came along and bought it.

I'll never understand the concept of those women's turtleneck sweaters that have the neck all stretched out. Why is that fashionable? It looks like someone with the fattest head imaginable tried it on and then just left it in the clothing store and then some idiot came along and bought it.

You're asking for explanations for women's fashion. There's no explanation. Women wear weird and superfluous crap, we always have and we always will.

Then again, excess fabric is traditionally a sign of luxury and money, of romanticism. I bet the idea of it was to replace the scarf or shawl. Like the look of a scarf or shawl but tired of having it fall off and come unwrapped? Now it's attached! Same idea as those sweaters that have a white cotton collar and cuffs attached so it looks like you're wearing a shirt under you're sweater only it doesn't really look like you're wearing a shirt because if you were, it would look bulkier than that and the whole point of those shirts with the collar and cuffs attached is so that it won't look bulky, thereby counteracting the whole effect of the "illusion."

ah...that shaft poster is probably the first turtle-neck that springs to mind. it's kinda similar to the one dave grohl wore on 'nirvana mtv unplugged' except grohl's was all floppy and shapeless.
