it's probably more like 1 quadrillion

It's interesting that everyone has defence policies, but no-one has peace policies - like not supporting arms sales, not supporting corrupt regimes, like using foreign aid to increase stability and not to force structural adjustments and to prise open foreign markets, not invading every country that has oil. Just small things like that.

Perhaps if we spent the money making people happy, content and non-aggressive but we actually use it to whip up trouble. I feel sick that the UK is lifting arms embargoes against China, knowing full well that those weapons will be used to kill us when we get dragged into fighting over Taiwan - the same old crappy story again and again.

BTW If any of you want to avoid conscription if and when your government decides its a necessity, you have to prove a history of anti-war belief, such as photos of you attending anti-war marches, joining anti-war campaigns, etc. You can't just turn up and say you are a conscientious objector. You have to prove it with photos, papers, documents, etc. So to anyone in the USA of conscription age I'd advise you to be working on that right now. For everyone else, better to err on the side of caution and get started too.
