I have lived in Houston for most of my life (a couple years when I was older I was gone) but I really have begun to see the DJ scene in Houston. Honestly, I don't know about the hip-hop or salsa/regeaton scenes but for various types of house music, it seems to be really big. A number of DJ's here are ready to pop, they have good followings and just innovate. There are DJ's that have had exposure in places like Miami & NY or other worldwide attention moving here or living here. There are regular nights and events with touring DJ's coming in as well which gets some of the locals a chance to share the bill. If yall come to Houston, you need to check it out. Names like Brotha Jibril, Little Martin, Andy "Champa" Moore, Lushus Brown, Sean Carnahan and others are well respected (that is just a few names) I even read that one DJ that left Houston to be closer to the music companies has now started a monthly residence back here because he missed it so much. Houston has something to offer for those looking for something new, come check it out.
