i smell a "one remaining member plus four randomly assembled no-names ala the new guns and roses" type reunion.

You clearly must be joking, or else you have not the first clue about Pink Floyd. This has been one of the more ugly break-ups in Rock history. Roger Waters actually toured following Pink Floyd in the 80's. Floyd would play a city one night, Waters would play the same city a few nights later or sometimes a few nights earlier. Waters and Gilmour despised each other.
This will be all members reuniting......LINK (http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Music/06/12/pink.floyd.reut/index.html)

twas a joke. axl rose sucks.
and it's very cool.
i thought one of the members went insane though.
the question is, will they return to the studio?

syd barrett went "insane" if thats how you want to put it.. after piper...
it would be interesting if this was followed by either just a tour or an album.. there are no guarantees of either though

syd barrett went insane, he was only around for one album, "Piper at The Gates of Dawn" then roger waters became the lead singer. "The Wall", "Dark Side of the Moon"," Animals", "Wish You Were Here", thats all Waters
roger waters left the band in the 80's. dave gilmour, nick mason, and richard wright continued to tour as Pink Floyd and their last album was "The Division Bell" in 1994...
this will be the first time since 81 these guys have played together..
big news for Floyd fans...

Jesus man, I'm just happy that I'll get to see these guys perform once again.

I saw them at the Vet back in the late 80's - early 90's.
Their show was the sickest thing I've ever seen.
They had a giant pig floating over the crowd pissing on everyone.

saw them in 94 at Rice Stadium Houston...
the concert was famous for being called early due to rain.
the giant boars head was there, as was Gods display of nature(that was the closest I ever felt to God, right when "Wish You Were Here" started and the skies opened up)
sick, absolutely sick experience, first and best concert ever. i will remember it to the day, April 5 1994

it's awesome news... it would have actually mattered to me two years ago, when i was obsessed with them. i don't think there's a chance in hell there'd be a new album with waters back in the group though.

the way i see it is that they are too egotistical and assholish to do this without some kind of payoff..
this could be a huge way to market themselves
the Live 8 shows are broadcast for free on the internet right? are they on tv too?

My understanding is that Roger Waters left because he was tired of being in the band and he wanted the whole thing to end. He wanted there to be no Pink Floyd. There was a lawsuit and the other 3 were allowed to use the name without him. Waters is certainly a strange dude -- anyone who has listened to the stuff he wrote can tell that -- but I always wished he had gotten his way and the others hadn't continued without him. (a la Jefferson Starship who couldn't use that name without Kantner)
I don't know what's going on with Waters now, whether he's wanting to connect with the others or whether he's in it for the money (the original Live Aid revived Clapton's career and put five of his old albums back on the Billboard charts). If Waters plays with them just this one time and then the others tour as Pink Floyd without him, I'm going to be really pissed.
It's such a bad way to reunite. I hate Cream, but playing Albert Hall is so much classier. Then again, Pink Floyd was all about the giant arenas so maybe it's appropriate.

The Rolling Stones are gonna rake it in this coming tour. The whole entire tour is sold out I believe. Sold out within minutes.

It was an article ages ago in Q. What with tickets, merc and other sales its been calculated that a pink floyd tour would make more than led zep. Fuck knows how these people calculate these things.

Floyd LIVE would be a better show than Zep.
A Floyd concert is a life changing event, tons of props and whatnot.
Led Zep were a crappy LIVE band, Plant could never hit the high notes live, plus they weren't exactly known for their stage props.

Maybe, but they seem to get mentioned alot more than floyd. Thats not saying floyd arn't popular-probably more so. I'd love to see floyd live, it would be one hell of a show (y)
I bet it would be expensive and sell pretty fast.
To be honest dude, i prefer concerts in small venues - more personal.

i've heard that floyd blows live.. roger waters can't sing in tune (hence the constant finger on the ear), and none of the others are spectacular musicians really. gilmour is also really fat nowadays...
seeing floyd is more like going to theatre.. which is fine.. i don't think that makes them better than zep live though.

the whole point of this thread tells us that Waters hasnt played with the band since '81, so if you heard they suck live, they sucked live before '81, but anyone who thinks they suck live is on crack...
which leads me to my next statement

you must have missed out on the whole live DVD thing last year or so. the live DVD and 3 Disc "How The West Was Won" CD literally proves your theory wrong about Zeppelin being a bad live band...
Zeppelin sold out stadiums faster than The Beatles in their day...
A floyd show is one for the ages...

agreed, that 3cd thing is awesome...
i've heard/seen parts of pulse.. but you didn't really give any reasons why they are good live.. if you're just saying the experience of seem them.. then i would probably agree with you
ps. don't get me wrong, i love the band.. and can't wait to maybe be able to see them

Pulse was recorded during their "The Division Bell" Tour of 1994. that was with Gilmour as the frontman. Gilmour has a much smoother voice and is able to sing any Waters song from any album.
they are great live because of their sonic, cerebral sound that you hear on the albums... they really do nail it live, they take you away to a far away place with their sound...
if you ever have seen Radiohead live, its quite similar, they just know how to command their instrumenst to make otherworldy sounds right there in front of your eyes...

yeah i know when pulse was recorded :p .. generally when i heard pulse i often wished waters was doing it.. because i didn't like how gilmour didn't do some songs.
i would be curious to see if they do a song like learning to fly at live 8.. i'm guessing no
