Does anyone else here think the Beasties should play one of the live 8 shows?

Live ate the fuck up you mean? Beastie Boys know better than to jump on the band wagon for this years set of superficial philanthropical show for appearances. Rice and penicilin will be dished out and gone in a month, with none the wiser. Hell, let's say dished out forever... Live 8 can put on shows and sing all damn decade, but until the problem is dealt with properly at the root, the truth, nor the people (humanity), will ever be appreciated, never mind the artists.
If I were the B Boys, I'd create a bonafide spinoff of the ONE Campaign with Benign Energy as the theme... and maybe, just maybe, cut through and play a Live 8 show. B.E.'s applications could benefit 3rd world countries in countless ways... Not to mention set the record straight on the war for oil. Hell, I might as well call it the Impeach and Indict (Bush's Administration) tour. That's just me, though.
I'd put the power back into the wise and competent hands of this country forming a constitution in affinity to mandate right minded agendas... from Moveon to Lucas, Redford to the Green Party, Kennedy to you and your local gas station attendant... everybody.... in order to set the record straight. Where resources are realized and appropriated correctly, SO ON & SO FORTH....

But don't mind me. I'm just writing in vain and to no avail here on the Beastie Boy's Message Board. Maybe I can get a job as the paper boy and just write in some common sense before delivering them.

Commence the chit chat. Dilute common sense and wonder why petitioning a corrupt government never seems to cut it.

Geez, haven't you ever thought, "well, maybe their heart is in the right place?" The Beasties put on several Tibetian Freedom Concerts, but no, Tibet isn't free yet, but the heart was in the right place and made more people aware of the problem. And besides, it's a good excuse to see some good music for a good cause... but I do have a problem that they are making tickets free? What's that all about anyway? And in addition to all of that, do we now need an excuse to see some live Beastie Boys?? lol

what i never understand is the fact that they play some music like they do normale to as a day living but now for a good thing they play the music like normaly only now your money is going to some thing good ??? why do the small people have to do that why can't they bring up money for themself and there rich friends and just give it to them .....that's would be nice they got more money than the normale people has got so spend some on the less fortuned (sp)people...they can give way more !!! like everybody should come watch this so they can safe a lot of money for others but if they self would share a small amount they would have a lot more !!( i am shure they wouldn't mis anything cause it keeps on comming the money i mean and they would be making a nice gesturewith that to )

Negative ghost rider. Don't let the world fool you. I don't know what to say here. Don't mean to diss, but I got to point out... It's all so terribly dumbed down. I've been around hoping to find someone down with roundin' this out well... but sooner find block heads unfortunately blocked up down Degenerate Way where the rich have built their oily black penthouses, locked up with no key to the latch.. Unfortunate is hardly the word, if your hip to my jive. It's beyond being simply unfortunate at this point. Being bereft of mental wherewithal in figuring the picture out in practical terms is incredible. Thinking small and taking life as it's given these days will get you taken down along with life's sabotaged potential. Don't disperse and dilute what I'm saying down to, "hey rich people, give money." The responsibility etc... is a whole lot larger and more profound than that.. so why ya act dumb like duuuuuuh dumb... but the masses get sunk building their houses on sand.. meaning, no one seems to have the integrity and mental wherewithal to understand the fundamentals of physical wherewithal.. what matters... macro to micro and visa versa. Trying to bounce this shit off of your crystal ball is like trying to explain algebra to a first grader. So how could you possibly figure the theory of relativity out correctly? The question is, "Is their mind in the right place?" The answer is no. Hell no in fact. Banking off singin' the blues, which is mainly attributed to mass corruption, in any form, while capitolizing in the very same corrupt banking system... will never make any good sense. This place is all kinds of wrong when common sense is not stocked appropriately. So makin' an appearance and singing ain't going to change the world like you'd like to imagine or whatever at this point. It's ultimately only for the market's sake. And talk about making aware... SHIT. "...While the masses passes upon there fucking asses-And if you don't see get glasses..."
Get a dog if your prescriptions keep leading to nowhere. Like, unleaded or leaded? Yes, degenerate way's dead end. And for this, it is practically impossible for most people of the world to see a clear way of how it could be nice to be alive. Do you get it? I'm not coming with a remote control here. Honest, intelligent, and responsible trading on the channels would free it up.

ARRRRRRRGH! I guess I was just looking a simple yes or no answer. I didn't mean to start political diatribes! Next time, I'll just ask if anyone has the coordinates of the Beastie's secret underground lair;-)

Well look and you might see it. Political diatribe? You still haven't realized or figured out the way To The Five Boroughs yet, have you. And what on earth would you do with those?

What's with all the bs poetry, soul-patch? Quit frontin' like mr. intellect and just talk like a human for once. Quit harrassing me like I'm stupid, ill informed, or the like. This whole time you have been acting like you are the all knowing master of wisdom and all of this, because I asked if anyone would care to see the Beasties at a benefit show? WTF? The five boroughs... that's in Deleware, right? Geez, get a grip and relax for a change, and leave the politics to the Beasties, because they can get to the point a lot faster.

Your question's pose was innocent and simple. But the gravity of it all didn't go down right, and the backdrop didn't match up. I simply saw where it needed to be informed, and filled it in with a full definition answer in picture form.
You said that you only wanted a relentlessly superficial, ill thought out answer to match your thread.
I responded to that with... check where you are again.
You tried to bounce my check, but the fresh amount had already been laid out and reached.
So now I'll raise up a better thread question: How great could it be if the world stopped fronting? Or rather for you... Wouldn't the world be great if it stopped fronting?
Don't get mad when I call it out from the smallest detail.
You didn't think for yourself. You keep missing the point. And it's at far more expense than you think.
And I'm inhuman?
To me, even a regular tour would seem dry in the circumstances. At least the BBoys call it as it is. So more power to them if they did play it. I've loved Pearl Jam, REM, DMB and many of the bands playing it for a long time, but feel the utter frustration of the whole mess of things and what Live 8 tends to amount to to scale... compared to what it should be.
PS. I'm not having a good year in any shape or form. The wrought hell that this country is at large has affected me in every possible way to the point to where I can descry/ recognize and trace/ derive even the smallest mishap (for lack of a better word) to the degenerate mentality and corruption not only in our government, but in the majority of the country.
Anyway.

The Live 8 Philly lineup needs the boys to represent. Last summer they ruled the Y100 Fest and later the Wachovia Center. The City of Brotherly Love always embraces the boys to the fullest. The world would benefit from their presence in Philly. We need the Beasties almost as bad as a championship! If we cant sign T.O. than we better get the Beastie Boys!

Well, that's quite a change from the way you originally wrote it ( before your edit ). But in an answer to your question, no you're not "inhuman," nor did I say that. And no, I wasn't looking for a superfical answer either... rather, I didn't expect this tread to go into this direction. Ugh.
Also, 'What? Sorry you can't think for yourself?' was pretty insulting to me. Just because I didn't want into the nitpicking of the Live 8 event ( which, by the way, I never said I was all for in the first place, did I? ) doesn't mean i'm in any way stupid, demented, lost, or near-sighted. It was a simple question, would you like to see the Boys there? It wasn't, oh isn't it so wonderful that Live 8 is going to change the world forever?? Forgive me for not being up to your high and mighty standards.

They supported Mumia Abu Jamal, and they are still not on the Live 8 Philly roster. I don't get it. This is a cause worth supporting. Especially in Philly where the Beasties have that cheesesteak flava.

Live 8 Philly is this weekend and still no Beastie Boys. They really need to make an appearance at this one. The lineup sucks!
