i totally fell into the fishpond at the wedding reception this weekend and scared the hell out of these guys. i wasn't even drunk or anything. i just stepped on a slab of stone and i didn't realize it was so thin and it gave and splash. went straight to the bottom. at least it was just an old jacuzzi converted into a pond and i only went up to a little over my knees. poor traumatized fishies :(

this dude was threatening to jump or something. psh, it was maybe 30 feet down. wuss didn't even do it. all the fire boats and ambulances and everything and he didn't even go.

thank you :) i'm pretty proud of that one. as far as my camera, it's a consumer-grade Casio Exilim...i'd like to move up to a Nikon D80 or something comparable, but this will work for now. it's got a great macro zoom and pretty nice picture quality for being relatively inexpensive (a little under $300). it works well for snapshots and the occasional nicer image.

Awesome pics, cosmo!
voodoo fuschias are my favorite potted plant.

I have this on my balcony every year!
I try to find fuschias with some kinda rock'n'roll name, so this comes from Voodoo Chile (and because it's so awesome colour as well!). I've had Deep Purple, Lindisfarne, and guess what I found this year? Quasar!!!!!

no way! that's awesome! :D i love fuschias, but they don't do well in our arid climate. i've had so many Voodoos, but they always die.

They prefer shadow. And good fertilizer.

I've never seen them before. Can you buy them on the east coast?

i've kept them in the shade...i think it's just too hot and dry for them here. i'll give it another go sometime though. they really are amazingly beautiful flowers. try looking at a nursery, Kenny.

If you have big pots with more soil it'll keep moist better. Here you can get this stuff called SwellGel (http://plants.thompson-morgan.com/uk/en/product/9081/1?SA=1372) that you can add to the soil. It swells when watering and thus keeps the soil moist much longer and the plants healthier.

I have to see if I can find one of those. I've never been much of a plant person, but that might have just changed. :)

hah! i've seen similar stuff, called Crystal Earth, at the local swap meet. it works like a charm and actually looks neat when you put it in a vase. that might just be the solution!

my sis-in-law told me that this translates into a kind of a riddle and means something along the lines of "know your place in life and live it well" or something. i just thought, ooh, pretty fountain!

this was a pioneer cemetary at the top of a hill. the oldest headstones we saw were the early 1800s. some were so old and worn you couldn't see the dates. the coolest was a triangular rock that just said "INDIAN UNKNOWN."

this doggie was such a ham. it belonged to the owner of this great antique shop we visited, and it would lie on the floor and look pathetic until you rubbed her belly. then she'd roll on her back and put her little paws in the air.

and, finally, the adorable little birdnest that was under the roof of the winery's main room. five little baby swallow chickies were in there. it was hard to get a good shot and i think you can only see four, but there they were. chirping at the top of their lungs for their momma to bring them food. it was so cute when she came back and fed them and they all went to sleep. she was hanging half out of the nest.
