View Full Version : Zurich in 6 weeks. Tell me what to do.

I hate starting new threads so be kind to me.
I'm going to Switzerland in 6 weeks.
I'm not camping but I will be staying in a hostel (the original eeek). Nothing fancy, and it's four storeys up with no elevator. Community showers. Another eeek.
I'll be tied up each day from 8:30-11:30 and then from 2:30-4:30, but I'll have evenings and most of the weekends free.
I have some ideas about what to do--the hills beckon, obviously, so I'll want to try to get with a hiking group.
I know of some castle tours that don't sound too hokey.
I'm not into restaurants and wine/drinking/clubs, so that's out.
Given these things, what to do or not do?
Don't anyone point me in the direction of anything Sound of Music-ish. I just refuse. :D

Sound of Music was Austria and you can head to Austria in less than an hour, if I remember correctly... castle tours in Europe are not hokey to me - nothing like the shite we have here... anything that has any sort of history with age to it is cool in my book...
The scenery is so beautiful and the cows are SO cute... hiking and sightseeing is just lovely to do...

I tend not to like to do anything according to a heavy schedule, so I probably will wind up doing informal walking/hiking/sightseeing. I thought if there was some definite thing to do, then I'd do it. Aside of eating cheese that is.

I know. I won't know where to begin. I'm getting hungry thinking about it. (The cheese here sucks unless you drive to a good set of shops to get it. So I'll be happy there.)

It somewhat looks like I should be planning what not to wear. :)
I'm taking a class during the two weeks leading up to the trip and it'll take a lot of my free time. If I don't pack in the next two weeks, I'll be screwed.

Oh, you don't really need to pack that much. Bra, hotpants and some facepaint.

I think that this stereotype has overstayed it's welcome. Normally I wouldn't care, because this doesn't really affect me, because I'm not white. But my poor daughter.
