Some worthy choices. Radiohead deserves to be on there, (OK Computer has some of the best drumming I've ever heard. Especially on "Airbag") maybe not at number one. I think Wilco should be higher up on the list. Beck did well too. Where's Time Out Of Mind? And "Love And Thef"?

I think a bunch of old farts made that list (kind of joking). There are least 10 LP's that should not be there based on changes in music over the past decade. Spin used to be good in the early 90's but it is really out of touch. Same with the Village Voice. Perhaps they should fire their reviewers.

why isn't anybody else as happy as i am about how the beasties were rated as having the 12th best album in 20 FREAKING YEARS?!?!?! do you know how big of an accomplishment that is??? for a cd that only sold 2-3 million copies, and that really isn't that well known compared to their others? that's unbelievable

I am happy. About 9 out of every 10 lists (perhaps there have been 100 of these lists since Paul's was released!) include Paul's Boutique in the top 20 (at least that is constant in this changing world). I am actually waiting for a Beastie Boys LP that can out-do Paul's Boutique. Some people may argue that PB is like an albatross around their necks.

Pinkerton at 61, but the Blue Album not on the list? WTF!!
I was thinking the exact same thing.
These lists are so subjective, it's kind of silly. But still, I was psyched to see the Beasties on this list twice! (Even though I'd agree more with CYH rather than LTI, but hey, I'll take it.)

Cypress Hill's Black Sunday should have made that list. The Soul Assassins So Watcha Want remix with B Real is one of the Beasties best colaborations that went unnoticed. Their is a live version on the Sabotage home video. Check it out.

The Cure's Head on the Door is considered better than Disintegration and Pornography!?

i think pb shoulda been ahead of 3ft high and rising. The magizine must have just looked at how many samples they used, instead of what they done with the samples, not including lyrics. PB it WAYY better than 3ft high and rising

I'm a SPIN subscriber and I was satisfied, for the most part, with the list. Sure, Paul's Boutique should be a lil higher, but they did pick a great mix of albums, and not to mention quite a few hip hop albums for a magazine that mostly covers rock. I have 14 of the albums on the list, and there are some albums I still need to get, plus some I wish I still had ( that's the last time I loan out a copy of "Low End Theory" ). The list will be a source of heated debate, but there's still some great things about it. I had never heard of The Fall until I saw them on the list. Here are just some interesting things I noted about the list and it's sublists:
1. I agree with them -- Pinkerton, is much better than the more pop friendly "Blue Album."
2. On the "Ten Recent Albums That May Also Stand The Test Of Time" -- Seriously, who's going to remember half of those bands in five years?
3. DJ Shadow -- Should have been higher, but justified the last year of HS I spent listening to that album, nearly wearing it out.
4. "Ten Terrible Albums" -- Yes, Creed really does suck, but Spawn the Album wasn't really THAT bad. That mini list needed more ICP. They are equal in suck-a-tude with Creed.
5. What the hell? No Black Flag's "Damaged?" Note: BF does show up on the "Ten Greatest Compilations Of The SPIN area."
6. Pavement over the Smiths? East LA would definately say the opposite.
7. Hole is WAAAAAAAY too high on that list.
8. Wouldn't we love to see a top 100 singles of the last 20 years?
9. Where's 50? He's da bomb? ( Ok, that last one was a joke )

Excellent list for 3 reasons:
1) #12! *squeals*
2) Elastica... I wish they would make a comeback.
3) Rosa, oh oh oh oh Rosa! #6.... at last it's finally acknowledged as better than Doolittle (but that album should still be higher).
