Just Curious....i thought i read it somewhere? Not that is matters.
I think the B-Boys arent as credited in old School Hip-hop as much as they should. As far as hip-hop pioneers go.

adrock and ll cool j were hanging around Rick Rubin's dorm room at the same time.
Adrock was credited with helping write the lyrics for LL's first hit, "I need A Beat"

the story..as i remember it...
Horovitz is chillin with rick up in his room....rick has tons of demo tapes, and adrock really liked LL's shit. he forced it onto Rick....
so in essence, without Adrock, we would never have been fortunate enough to hear "Hey Lover" feat Boyz II Men...

Dr Pepper Honors "Architects of Hip-Hop" in 2003 Advertising Campaign
Dr Pepper stepped into its second year with its popular celebrity-based "Be You" advertising campaign with three contemporary musical artists playing tribute to the trailblazers of their day in the campaign that launches this month.
The campaign, which features themes of originality, individuality and personality, includes a tribute commercial featuring LL Cool J paying homage to hip-hop group RUN DMC. This commercial was filmed prior to the Oct. 30, 2002 murder of group member Jason Mizell (Jam Master Jay).
RUN DMC is widely credited as the architect of the mainstream hip-hop music revolution, and Jam Master Jay is specifically mentioned in the Dr Pepper commercial lyrics.
A brief memorial to Jam Master Jay will appear at the end of the commercial, which debuts during the professional football conference championships on Jan. 19 as well as on the Golden Globe Awards later that day. Please visit DrPepper.com to see the ad and tribute.
"We were deeply saddened to hear of Jay's tragic death," said John Clarke, chief advertising officer for DPSU. "Early in the planning process we began discussing which music 'originals' we wanted to celebrate in this campaign. Run-DMC surfaced as the obvious and undisputed pioneer of the hip-hop sound. We believe this tribute spot has even more meaning now for Jam Master Jay and Run-DMC fans, as well as the entire hip-hop fan and artist community."

MAN!!! I completely agree...the beasties are always left out, when these new school cats are rappin' about the old school, pioneers, etc...and it pisses me off. They were right there neck and neck doin' the same ish DMC was, and touring w/Public Enemy. I mean C'mon...Recognize!
On top of all that, all these old schoolers that were considered (are) pioneers are f'n has-beens now, and getting on stage w/people like kid rock and nelly embarassing themselves and ruining their legacy, I mean Q-tip is on the f'n new Black Eyed Peas album for Goddsake (talk about desperate)???!! Meanwhile, the Beasties are still as fresh as ever, rep'n true hip hop to the fullest, don't have a bunch of shitty rappers featured on their album and sellin' out arenas STILL! The beasties are the only hip hoppers that have had true longevity...and it needs to be more recognized. They better be the first hip hoppers inducted into the rock n' roll hall of fame...I could write an f'n novel on this subject. Paul's Boutique Bitches!!! Paul's Boutique.
Yeah, ADrock did pass along a demo of LL to Rubin. LL was hot back in the day, now he's just a lip lickin' buster. That dude couldn't sell out a county fair...those are the gigs he's playin' now right...what a dickneck. Don't hate on Horovitz though, he obviously had an ear for what was goin on back then.
Beasties are the kings of hip hop and have kept it real the entire time. No one else in the industry can truly say that. Even MOs Def is doin' car commercials now...I mean, its just down hill from here kids.

The Beasties aren't desperate enough to help ruin hip hop by selling a piece of shit soda; that's why they would never do something that ignorant and rediculous:
LL - Desperate
DMC - Desperate
These people just need to go away forever...they're ruining their rep as pioneers and the culture in which they helped create.

not to hate, but you're a fuckin idiot for saying that, the BEP are much more fresh than the beasties, the beasties aren't nearly at the "freshest" time of their careers, i'm not even that much of a BEp fan at all, and i still acknowledge that your wrong,,,they're obviously paying homage (or however you spell it) to Q-Tip who is an old-school well-known rapper from his tribe-called quest days, why else would they have a guy who hasn't had a popular song in years (breath an stop?) on their cd?? suggestion to you: CHECK YOUR HEAD!

black eyed peas suck....the dictiionary definition of sellout... listen to their first record...and look out how hypocritical they are now....
bep could never touch the bboys on the fresh levels..

just saying that they are still a credible bandin the music business today, and are currently bigger in popular music today than the beasties are, you can't deny that, you hear BEP everytwo seconds on mainstream radio, and they do have fairly good music whether or not i like it makes no difference, and i disagreed with him/her that they are as fresh as they have ever been (the beasties), which is obviously BS since they aren't nearly at the height of their careers

All this he's selling out they've sold stuff is all BS..simple as!! Yes BB's don't get enough credit as they should do, but that's all down to the media, not any particular musician...I reckon if most musicians were interviewed and asked what they thought of BB's input to music was, they'd have nothing but praise for them. No other band can compare to them, they appeal to all genres...all I care about is them bringing out stuff and making it freah! if LL Cool J, BEP's, Q-Tip amd whoever else you can name want to sell out, I really couldn't care less, if it's a good beat and I like it, so what...I'll listen to it. We all know by now BB's will never be like that in selling out just to make a few extra record sales, and that's why we love them so..which what makes they stand out from the rest..end of the day, do really give a shit about what other musicians do?... I don't!!

So you start out your post by saying "not to hate" and then follow it w/ "but you're a fuckin' idiot...." nice one. hater.
That's the point of this whole thread dick-neck: The beasties not getting paid homage as pioneers.
And why are you sticking up for the Black Eyed Peas? The Beasties could out-fresh BEP on they're unfreshest day. They sucked so bad they had to recruit some hot R&B singer and Justin Timberlake....I bet you listen to Dave Matthews Band...regularly.
If you wanna hear a song that includes the BBoys on a hip hop homage song check the track entitled "Rock n' Roll (shout out back to the rappers)" on the Philadelphonic album by G. Love & Special Sauce or the Renegades of funk video by Rage Against the Machine.
Good Debate going here...lets keep it goin'....its all love.

I think that all music peoples, with exceptopns to teenie boppers, deserve a little respect for the music...I mean there are plenty of groups I don't like but I respect them for getting up on stage and singing or rapping about how they feel or what they got to say without any regards to the thousands of people listening...if I tried that I would probably fall off the frickin stage....I couldn't do it...how many of you could?

man it sure would be nice to seethe Beasties Collabarate with an old school Def Jam artist.
LL, Chuck D, Slick Rick?
:D
Dont forget RUN DMC...That would be one heck of a show. In honor of Jam Master Jay...maybe DJ Hurricance can spin for him. I seen Hurricane this friday at the Taste of Chicago spinning for Faith Evans (who opened up for LL Cool J). Hurricance had a shirt on with JMJ face on it. I know aside from the beasties, Hurricane used to spin for DMC as well.
BUT....as the industries, contract, corporations...that probably will never happen. Im sure the Beasties would go for it....as for the rest of the labels....well, as Mike D says it best, "Got Fat Bass Lines Like Russel Simmons Steals Money". Anyone know what the beef is with Russell and the Boys??
Or should would some one care to start a whole new thread on it?
