Red Hot Chili Peppers have almost finished their new album. They're laying down the final vocal tracks for the as-yet-untitled disc with longtime producer Rick Rubin at a Los Angeles studio. Guitarist John Frusciante tells Rolling Stone, "There's heavier stuff than the band's ever done, and there's also a lot of beautiful, soaring melodies. I feel like everybody's taking their instrument to a new level." The Chili Peppers have been working on the follow-up to 2002's By the Way for a long time -- they wrote and rehearsed for seven months before entering the studio. The disc should be out in the fall.

they really are extremely overrated.

They are just a bit above average at best. Of course that is my opinion. I'm glad I skipped watching them for Fischerspooner instead.

god, with the things they're doing to genetically modify produce these days, you might not have to wait too long. *romshit*

Hey don't front on the Chili Peppers just because fruitcakes dig them so much. They're a fine band.

And their covers generally suck compared to their original material. I wish you'd stop sayin that already, Jess. You're making me violent.

One Hot Minute is the best thing they've ever done.

They are an incredibly underrated overrated band.

What happened to Spanishbomb...did he find a girl or something? I'd like to think he's catching up to the `90's....or following the White Stripes from town to town.

I was trying to think of another spicy plant to name a band after.....something along the lines of "the Bay Leaves" here come the Bay Leaves to rock your asses off.

pfft no i'm not. you're basing this on like three posts. most of my posts in this section are praising acts, not bashing them...just because i happen to dislike things you like doesn't mean i'm at all like that kid was.

maybe he found jesus or something?

Anyone who doesn't dig "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" is a total boob. Let me rephrase that, anyone who doesn't respect it is a boob, I should say. Opinion is opinion, but quality is still quality. That was an excellent album, regardless of whether it falls within someone's personal taste spectrum. They all excelled very well on their instruments for that album and created something extremely original and well-rounded. Besides, you don't have to enjoy someone's music to recognize their talent.

And whoever the dope is that said their covers are their best tunes doesn't have a fucking clue. You obviously haven't listened to enough of their music to make a valid opinion, or you just simply have horrible taste in music; and I hope it's not the latter. In fact, although they're not like my favorite group or anything, I've heard all of their albums plenty of times, enough to say that their covers, aside from higher ground, tend to be their worst tracks. Open your fucking ears.

I've always liked RCHP. The first time I saw them at a festival in Finland (about '87) they ran across the stage with just socks on when the Ramones were playing :D
Last time I saw them Frusciante ruined a perfect gig by jamming for over 20 mins at the end...

All i have to say is that all those fuckers that are saying how the RHCP are a bad band then i have to say that you are either completely reatrded, don'tactually ever listen to the RHCP, or don't listen/ like that kind of rock at all. and if you dont then dont say anything about it cuz U just dont like it. The RHCP really have changed the way people look at rock and in an awesome way. and I completely agree with Brother McDuff, first Open your FUCKIN ears, and then you will understand at least to respect the kind of level the peppers play at and how skilled each one of them is at their instrument. good band. they've had a lot of shit in their impressively long career, and I enjoy Californication (the album) an awful lot.

However, I think they're kinda strange live. Strange, only because sometimes they appear to be on top of their game and make you think 'well that would of been a good gig to have been up', but then other times it just doesn't seem to be working and they're fucking dreadful.
