I saw it last night at a special screening. George A. Romero's next movie is going to be called Theater of the Dead.

It will be footage of us last night watching (or sleeping) through that trifling garbage.

But this was from someone who has been looking forward to it for a long time. So he could have had too-high expectations.

romeros not above making crap. I'll check it but I dont have any super high expectations. Only reason it was even made was because of how well the remake of Dawn of The Dead did (which for a horror remake was suprisingly good) and he wanted to get in on the cash cow.

That's what my friend Rob was saying. I haven't seen all of the Dead movies but he has. He told me that they all have been pretty fucking good but this one was just a disappointment.

I can tell you this one is way more, optimistic, so to speak, compared to the other dead films.

There were a few things that threw me, but overall, I dug it.

p.s. the fact that they keep saying it's Romeros masterpiece though is far from the truth.

Actually he was working on it before the remake. Don't remeber where I read that. The reason a lot of people think it sucks (in my opinion at least) was that the studio rushed him and made him release it before it was really ready. Of course I still haven't seen it yet. That's just stuff I've read in reviews.

yeah it was a bit of both. He had ideas of doing another film but hadnt actively pursued it so much. He was kind of pushed to make something right after Dawn Of The Dead remake and they wanted something quick to cash in on the whole horror thing as of late.


personally, I think his version of Stephen Kings "The Dark Half" is probably the second best thing he did next to Night Of The Living Dead even though its pretty much always panned.

Night is one of my favorite movies though, and no matter how much I like or dislike Land, I know it will never eclipse Night.

I've developed a theory since I started this sentence. Because I live in Pittsburgh and I've had family who have worked on the Dead films, I just can't accept the fact that this one wasn't as good as the others. I think it was better than Day, but not better than Night and Dawn (and the remake).

I'll go with that.

DAY OF THE DEAD was the best of the three....IMO.
