They have a contract with capitol, for 3 albums, and Hello Nasty and TT5B were 2 of them, so there's one still on that capitol contract

i thought they signed to do 3 in 11 years, but that was after HN? i hope so cos that'd mean 2 more! cos the anthology don't count

I think that The Sounds of Science is counted as the first release under this contract.

The contract just means they can't release any albums with other record companies. Nobody's going to force them to release another album any time soon.

I was under the impression that TT5B was the first of this 3 album deal . . . we need some confirmation from an official source.

Beastie Boys Re-Up With Capitol Records

01/10/2000 5:00 PM

(1/10/00, 5 p.m. ET) - The Beastie Boys have signed with Capitol Records in a long-term, worldwide recording agreement. Exact terms of the agreement weren't disclosed, but the label has taken on the Beasties and all that they represent; from the records to the politics to their label, Grand Royal Records.

When LAUNCH asked Mike D if they keep politics and music separate, he responded, "No, everything works its way into our songwriting. It all influences ultimately what we put out there. To think that it's incompatible, I think, to me that's one of our biggest misconceptions we have. We have this whole idea unfortunately, especially amongst young people, that to be political or, for that matter, to think about other people before you think about yourself is not going to be a fun thing to do." Mike D continued, "To me, that's one of the most damaging myths or lies that exists out there."

The first release counted under the new contract is the Beasties's double-album, greatest-hits collection The Sounds Of Science, which hit stores late last year. Capitol Records' CEO Roy Lott said of the deal, "Beastie Boys are respected as the premier act of the 1990s. Their music crosses all musical genres and their social positions unite people or all walks of life around the globe. We are very excited to be continuing our relationship with them into the next millennium. Their most recent efforts display three artists at the peak of their creativity."

From all the info I gathered on here, and this post if it's true, Sounds of Science was the first album on that capital thingie and they still have 1 more so they're working on it right? What show did you see that on by the way? :D

I think an album of stuff from this mysterious "VAULT" would be great. Or better yet, why don't they just release some of this material to us fans while we are waiting for this new album to hit.

Nevermind. It has only been a year since TT5B. I guess we will have to wait for the half-way point to get some of that good stuff from the vault. Another 2 years till they open that damned thing. :D :D :D :D

The contract thing doesn't guarentee any more beasties records, but if it makes you feel better then go along with it :)
