This is more scary than polluted water, aids, global warming, or any other BS that liberals love to go on about. And what is extremley funny about it, it was the guys liberals love to hate (Rehnquist, Scalie, Thomas) who actually side for the poor little guys, the more left-leaning side of the court sided with govt and wealthy developers.
This is a scary, scary, scary.
"Knock Knock. The city is taking over your PRIVATE PROPERTY so that we can build an un-needed office park here. Here's a check for 50% of market value. You have 5 days to get out. Thanks."

tax revenue is to a politician like heroin to a junkie. just as junkie will steal from his own mother to feed his habit, this decision gives the greenlight to govts to steal from the people they are to be serving in order to expand their tax base, i.e. feed THEIR habit

They actually get paid more than market value. That doesn't help with the emotional component and there are other issues, but don't get too carried away.
People should pay more attention to what their local governments are doing. This isn't a radical new idea. It's been going on for decades.

Does this mean a city can take your house for market value or less, and then turn around and sell it above market value?
Is that the 'public good'?

I'm most definitely not a fool. I know a lot more about it than you do. I gained my knowledge from a source that is neither the internet nor talk radio. (Also, people get a lot more than 5 days notice prior to moving. But feel free to make more shit up in order to make your point.)
The supreme court merely said that what some local governments do is legal. I don't happen to like what they did here. But I dislike factual inaccuracy too. If any of you don't like what your local government is doing, you should be addressing your local politicians. They hold far more power than most people realize.
