Thanks, George. Thanks for making all the nations whose oil we need our mortal enemies. Thanks for making the dollar worthless with your reckless borrowing. Thanks for lying our nation into a war because Israel wanted it. Thanks for selling us out.
Thanks.
Thanks a whole bunch.
Have you noticed how the price of oil rises as the value of the U$ falls?
It must have something to do with oil being priced in U$...
Here's an interesting article (http://www.ratical.org/ratville/CAH/RRiraqWar.html) about the use of the U$ as fiat currency for oil. I know I've posted it many, many times before, but it's a really, really good article. You need to print and read it very, very carefully.

I thought the middle east had switched to the Euro.

Read the article (http://www.ratical.org/ratville/CAH/RRiraqWar.html)! It's all about exactly this!

And to think I lost 3.5% in the stock market this week. Twice this year I've lost money that big and both times it's been because of soaring oil prices.
So what would oil be priced at if we hadn't gone to war with Iraq?

I saw a ridiculous story on the 'newsak' tonight about the price of oil.
They explained that the reason that it's getting so expensive is those selfish Americans driving around to visit each other on 4th July and that's one reason the price is going up. Another is the 'booming' economies of India and China placing greater demand on the world's oil reserves and that's why Mr and Mrs Smith of Surrey have to pay so much to drive the kids to school.
I was fairly appalled. It painted the British as victims of other people's consumption depriving us of our God given right, rather than what we are - oil addicted consumers who contribute to the demand for oil that causes it's price to rise - just like America, China and India, etc. What an incredible example of passing the buck.

As a Nation we are sure slow on the uptake, demand auto makers become patriotic!
Typical gas mileage for a Hummer: 8-10 mpg
Typical gas mileage for a Toyota Prius: 42 mpg
You do the math.

I actually don't drive. I walk, cycle and use public transport but I do get the vibe from a lot of people that I should be driving at my age as though it's something to do with puberty - like your balls drop, your voice breaks and you suddenly have the skills and urge to drive.
My future mother in law in the few times I've talked to her has made many a reference to the fact that I don't drive. She's still at that polite "I don't know you enough to nag at you" phase but give it time.

I don't fancy driving myself either. All it takes is for one stupid kid to run out in the road through bad parenting, and you as the driver are villified.
