I can't log out

I have a similar problem. I can log out when i come on here elsewhere but from my home computer i click on log out and it says there was a problem - so i end up staying logged in for 15 mins...

Not a major catastophe...just sayin' :)

Why do you log out at all? I have wireless & just stay signed on. Is that a bad thing to do...is there some finite number of slots that people can log into?

I sign out because i have the little green light next to my name that shows when i am online. When i can't log out it looks like i am online when i am not online....

You can change that in user control panel - in edit options you have to choose use invisible mode.

I've always wondered about something.

If you use invisible mode, then others can't see your name at the bottom of the BBMB home page.

But if you don't use invisible mode and never log off, will your name always appear at the bottom of that page or will it appear there only when you're actively using the site?

enree, your name is never at the bottom of the main page and your light is never on so you're invisible. On your own screen, your name will have a * by it.

I think that if you're not using the invisible option, your light is on and your name shows up so long as you haven't logged out of the sight or shut down your internet or computer because my computer only starts my new posts over if I do those things. Whereas if I log in here and then browse ebay for an hour and I come back here, the new posts haven't started over. If that makes any sense at all.

I have posted from internet cafes and libraries and so I would be bummed if I couldn't log out. I try to remember to uncheck the "remember me" option when I log in too.

If you can't log out, try clearing your cache and/or deleting all cookies. Then refresh the page and you'll be logged out.

I'm pretty sure once you have closed all open BBMB windows you log out, otherwise I would always be online because I never log out and I have my computer on like 16 hours a day.

There's a difference between being logged out and appearing online/offline. Closing all windows does not mean you're logged out. You're confusing this with being seen in the online users list. You will be added to the online users list whenever you visit the website regardless of whether you are logged in or not. The difference is that being logged in means that you're able to post. So you can be logged in and not appear online if you're not at the site at a given point in time.

Logged in also typically means that when you visit the site, it "remembers" you and so you can't post without entering your user/pass again (if you select this option when you log in). A couple of posts ago I explained how to log out so this doesn't happen as a result of a full-cache/cookie problem.

I hope that makes sense.

Nope. It doesn't affect the server at all. The only thing it will affect is your PC in that there'll be a cookie stored locally keeping track of whether or not you're logged in here.

I said that wrong. I think your own light is red is on if you're logged in, no matter whether you chose the visible or invisible option because my red light is always on when I'm logged in.

You should never see a green light next to my name because I choose to be invisible when I'm logged in.

The light next to mine is green because I'm not invisible.
